The hotel is beautiful and very well located to the Central Train Line. Rooms were very comfortable and well laid out for 3 people. We had room to place 3 suitcases (ours were large). Wish we could have stayed longer. Staff were courteous and I love that everyone is bilingual and so language is not a barrier. Thank you.

Stayed here on our last night of an extended vacation in Italy. Since we were flying out in the morning, we wanted something quiet, something not right in the center. This was perfect. We were a mile walk from the Duomo, walking along the Arno and cutting over from there. For us, this was a good thing--it might be a...

We came after spending 3 nights in a supposidely 4 stars hotel in Rome, and what a difference. this hotel is so clean, comfortable, excellent room furniture, comfortable beds and a real good advantage having a tea kettle and tea equipement, something that nowadays missing in many hotels in Europe. Bravo!

Let's begin with what's good: -The hotel rooms were spacious and very nicely designed, with a clean modern look which was very appealing. -Safe and fridge were provided and worked well -The beds were comfortable. -The staff were generally good and willing to accommodate to our needs. However, there were a few issues that led to a non-perfect score: -Internet...

If you like the smell of raw sewage you will love this Hotel. From the moment you arrive in the lobby you are welcomed with a stench to rival any treatment plant. Shower has two settings - freezing cold or skin blisteringly hot. Smokers among us will feel right at home whilst breathing in the stale tobacco scented room air....

The hotel is very nice, but not as clean as newer places. Continental breakfast is good, but let's be honest, lunch and dinner is what Italians excel at. Service is fine, but the main selling point is the hotel's central location.

Our first night at the hotel, discovered the bed linens were not clean. Decided to change hotels - based on that experience and the location is not that convenient to inner Florence except to the train station. Hotel kept a two night penalty for cancelling our 6 night stay - one night would have been more appropriate. Did not find...

This hotel may not be much to look at from the outside, but thankfully it’s a very different story on the inside. The public areas and bedrooms are very nicely furnished with modern décor and large bedrooms with well appointed bathrooms. Staff in both the bar and reception were helpful and the housekeeping staff were excellent – a credit to...

This hotel was booked by a company that had invited me to Florence, therefore I didn't expect much. However, it turned out to be better than I expected. Nice clean room, a bit small, large bathroom with a slim slippery bathtub, a shower between the toilet and the bidet(!) but a good comfortable twin bed. Breakfast was good, not spectacular,...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
