The Morandi is a small hotel located in a former convent near the Academia museum in Florence. It's easy to walk to most major attractions. Each room is unique, with some more spacious than others. The beds are comfortable, and the hotel is in a quiet location. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful with securing dinner reservations, tours, museum entrance...

A former convent in a super location, this hotel is a classy and quiet oasis in the touristy hub-bub of central Florence. The rooms are clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff is extremely professional, courteous and helpful. It has a chill vibe to it that is perfect after a hectic day of sight-seeing. Highly recommended for romantic getaways and...

We stayed in a family room (boys aged 10 and 6 yrs) for 5 nights in August 2016. The hotel is a former convent and has a great deal of charm. Breakfast is served in a small dining room and you may need to wait a few minutes for a table but this isn't a problem as they serve you...

Loved this hotel which I had booked last minute traveling alone. Located within walking distance of most attractions around the Duomo and the Acadamie, yet situated on a safe, quiet side street. The rooms are lovely, decorated with antiques and handicrafts made by the nuns that occupied this former convent. The hotel has more history dating back to to the...

Location is great, five minutes to the Duomo and well withing walking distance to the train and bus station. You can pretty much walk anywhere from the hotel with the...

We stayed here one night to break up our week in Bologna, the hotel was very quaint, very clean and the service was superb and we would certainly use again if in the area. The breakfast was nice and the hotel was very quiet and a 15 minute walk from the centre of Florence.

Great location and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The bed was a little hard but the room was very clean and spacious. We stayed 3 nights and we would stay here again. Breakfast was not included but we tried it one morning and it was a nice continental menu.

The hotel is a little off the beaten track (north of the Duomo) but very convenient to San Marco, Accademia, Hospitale, Santissima. And it is nice to walk to and from, fewer crowds. Very friendly staff, breakfast is a little sparse (lots of carbohydrates, no cooked breakfast). We had a ground floor room with patio, but couldn't really use it...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
