Our stay in this hotel was one of the highlights of our time in Florence. Perfectly located to walk anywhere. Spacious and peaceful rooms. Christiano and Rolando were delightful and knowledgeable with recommendations for excellent restaurants and personalized maps that made the city easy to navigate. Loved the architecture and history. A very old and unusual looking hair dryer, but... More

Just got back from third trip to Italy, and this is my second stay at this small hotel. The first time I stayed here was in 2001. I am going to leave a lengthy review on this establishment since it is a popular one. First, the history of the convent originally subsidized by the Medici is interesting. It is small... More

Couldn't recommend this hotel more highly. Beautiful spacious homely rooms , excellent friendly helpful staff, incredibly quite peaceful location -hard to believe we were so close to florance and all its amazing attractions. Really enjoyed our visit and all the more so because we had Morandi to return to after our days tracking around the museums and galleries.

Very enjoyable week spent in Florence. The breakfast was wonderful. We had many questions and concerns involved with sites and restaurants and activities and all of them were answered patiently and quickly. My room was great and clean. The location was great for walking anywhere in Florence.

Exceptionally charming and cozy b&b. Good hot water, wi-fi connection and beds. Decorated with great taste and with most interesting antiques. Very good breakfast served with great personal attention in the small breakfast room. Nothing less than a good 4 star hotel and much more service and care for details than in most superior category hotels. Reasonably priced, very centrally... More

We stayed two nights in this hotel. The room was basic but noisy at night. The bathroom was inadequate. The shower stall was barely 2'wide with a metal surround. The staff was pleasant and the breakfast fine but I would not recommend this hotel.

We loved this small, charming hotel for our 6 nights in Florence and it's a great value for the price. Our friends stayed in a very upscale hotel in the center of the city, with huge crowds and lots of street noise. This hotel is away from the city center, but within a 5 minute walk to the Duomo. The... More

My husband and I spent five nights here in September. The location was convenient. We could walk to il Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio quite quickly. It was not far from other places of interest (Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio) either. We were truly impressed by the Morandi alla Crocetta staff, who went beyond the call of duty to make us feel comfortable... More

While in matters of taste there may be no disputing, surely there is a difference between "old world charm" and just plain "old". I agree with the previous reviewer: this place is basically dreadful, although the water pressure was good and I liked the location. The three front desk guys I met were pleasant enough. The effusive positive reviews, however,... More

I agree with you in that the air-conditioning brake-down was a serious nuisance. We did inform you at check-in, compensated you with a reduction on the room rate and gave you the option of us to find another hotel at no cancellation charge. Our staff told you that we have had this situation for a couple of days, not that... More

From the black hair in the shower (my husband and I both have fair hair!!), to the tatty interior, this hotel isn't "charming", it's depressing. We didn't have frescoes in our room, we had tatty, threadbare rugs and a bathroom that should have been updated decades ago. Yes, we had a sweet little balcony off our room - but when... More

Thank you for informing me of the hair found in the shower. I have taken steps. Our cleaners are always very meticulous in their job, which is also inspected by an external firm. This is surly an isolated incident which I will ensure it will not happen again. Concerning your feeling of “sadness” of the hotel, you must obviously not... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
