The best location in Florence, a few minutes from Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori) and also could see it from the window. The receptionist was amazingly helpful with directions and where to see and asking for our car from the garage when we needed. The top roof was small but very nice and a great view of Duomo.... Excellent location; walking distance to all great sites (Duomo, Academie Ponte Vecchio, etc). Hotel staff was very helpful in all respects (directions, transportation, etc.). Standard double room is a bit tight, with a small bathroom but it was very comfortable. The rooftop lounge has fabulous views of the city. Breakfast was excellent.

We stayed there for one night. One of the main sticking points for picking this hotel was that they have a nice rooftop lounge. So, imagine the disappointment when we heard that the lounge was closed because of "rain". It's true, it rained a little yesterday but it was more of a drizzle and there were still plenty of people... More

We were 5 adults and 3 children, driving around in Italy with 2 cars and we decided to include Florence in our trip. We stayed in Grand Hotel Cavour for 2 nights in early September 2016. The hotel is nice, the rooms and the bathrooms were spacious. It was a little hard to reach it by car, because the center... More

I stayed here for three nights and the hotel is in a terrific location, just metres from the Duomo and the Uffizi. While the staff were helpful when approached, they were generally a bit stand-offish. I don't want to be too critical, but in comparison to the other hotels I stayed at - some with more stars and some very... More

I visited the hotel 3 times and every time I got a worst opinion. It seems some of the rooms are carefully refurbished, but others are in absolute need of renovation, it feels like being in different hotels... This time I had a room with a great view, but that was the only positive point, together with the quality of... More

Central location for exploring Florence, everything within easy walking distance. We had a large deluxe corner room with views of 3 campanile one way and the Duomo the other way. Good quality bed linen, huge bathroom and spotlessly clean. Well worth paying the extra. Fantastic to hear the bells, made it a truly Italian experience. Excellent reception and breakfast room... The location of this hotel is simply suberb! A 10 min walk from the main station SMN. With luggage might be better to take a taxi, since the roads are cobbled. A stones throw away from the Duomo, Uffizzi, Ponte Vecchio. The hotel has a pleasant reception. Staff is helpful. The room and bathroom are small. Pretty tight, But if... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
