Ariele was an amazing choice for us as it was amazing value for our budget. The rooms were clean and spacious with very high ceilings. The decor in the rooms could do with a bit of an update but the rest of the hotel boasted a pleasant historical atmosphere. I also appreciate that the hotel does offer gluten free breakfast... More

We had 2 night stay in Ariele. Hotel was great. Room was huge and spacious with attached bathroom. Completely clean, neat and tidy. We had a buffet style breakfast which was included in our booking type. Reasonable spread. Our location was great, we were 10 mins walking distance from the train station. Everything was close by foot. Great experience and... More

We did three cities in Italy, picking a hotel in each that fitted our budget and the Ariele in Florence was by far the best of them all. It's located close to the Arno in a quiet part of town, but only a 10 minute walk from the station (tip: easiest way to get from the station without walking much... More

as far as I am concerned everything was nice. the room was clean, big, quite and historical. It has a comfortable and pretty. The staff are helpful and friendly. we are so pleasured. the breakfast is not so good but is was not significant for us. We prefer the hotel for young couples because it is a little far from... Value for money close to the heart of Florence. It is 10 to 15 mmins walk to the train station and 2 mins walk to Arno river. Breakfast is simple but nice and plentiful. Croissants were always great. The hotel has the museum like character - nicely decorated with statue, nice paintings and ornaments. The garden in the hotel is... More

A very good hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. Not far from the train station and the historical center. Staff was very polite and helpful. All the historical places of interest are easily accessible - 15 minutes walk along the river bank. Nice breakfast.Very positive impressions! Thanks!

First of all, this hotel is not a 10 minute walk from the train station!! Not to mention the hotel is so far away that it is not even included on the map! The hotel itself was subpar- the staff spoke zero English and were very rude. The breakfast was nonexistent with only croissants and juice out of a machine... More

We found the location a little too far, would have liked to come back to change and then go for dinner. If we were tired and it got late there is no bus past 8:30 pm, so we spent too much on taxis. The hotel is just ok, the cleaning crew had all the laundry spread out outside the rooms... More

Free breakfast, very fast and efficient at the check in, the guy at front desk allowed us to check in early. Location is in the quiet neighborhood, walk 10 min from train station, very close to the river and it's nice to walk around the area. 30 min to the all the tourist sites. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Hotel Ariele in Florence, welcome home... To really appreciate the building you live in, it is primarily important to get to know its story. Hotel Ariele is made of two different timeline buildings. The first building is carved out an ancient 1400s tower while the second building derives from a prestigious 1700 palace which is now headquarters of many embassies, amongst others the Helvetian Embassy during Italian Reign. The palace has also hosted numerous Florentine families, amongst others is worth mentioning the Arcangeli of Strozzavolpe also known as order keeping people. Even nowadays you can still smell and feel the luxurious, elegant and sophisticated atmosphere of this Florentine house, just like it was in those wonderful years of the past centuries. You can sense it in the big rooms with the typical arched ceilings, in the intimacy of common areas embellished with antique fireplaces and beautiful pictures on the walls and even in our small but pretty and peaceful garden ideal place for having a drink, reading a book or just entertaining yourself with your friends and loved ones after a day admiring our beautiful and unique Florence or even after a working day when relax is needed. All 42 rooms elegantly furnished and equipped with all comfort, paying particular attention to details, the competent and experienced directors together with our warm-welcoming and expert staff will make sure that your experience in Florence shall be satisfying, exciting, relaxing and unforgettable...See you soon again at Ariele's, your own home... ... more   less
