The best thing about the Westin Florence is the concierge - great suggestions for meals and tips around the city. Location also excellent, and the building itself is gorgeous. We stayed in a larger room and it was beautiful, though there were a couple of water stains on the ceiling. Water pressure not great, but this is not unexpected in historic centers in Europe. The breakfast buffet was expensive but convenient, with a variety of cuisines, though things such as ordering omelettes took a long time (didn't show up the first morning but got better as the week went on). Fitness room is small but a bonus feature.
well located and warm front office and restaurant staff. The hotel is showing many signs of ageing with worn carpets, chipped walls, absence of vacuuming of the carpets in the rooms with the housekeeping staff not very good, at times being very rude. the restaurant staff were friendly and prompt as was the front office and concierge. located next to the canal and 10 mins walk to the main square piazza della signoria. good restaurants near by in walking distance. the restaurant on the rooftop has a spectacular view
The staff from check in to check out were amazing. The hotel has so much charm and located perfectly for exploring both sides of the river. We were upgraded to a suite on the river with amazing views. Such an outstanding experience.
Service is impeccable! Excellent hotel with matching services in the center of all attractions. An historic building with exceptional Marriott service and facilities. Breakfast is outstanding with the quality and variety. Location is perfect for walking to see the sites, only minutes away.
We stayed for several nights on two stops over a 10 day period. Both stays and both rooms were perfect. When we arrived for our second stay, the hotel had our luggage in our room and an extra bed made up - this was without prompting . We had left Florence to visit Venice and the hotel held onto our extra luggage while we were gone. To have the room arranged when we arrived was above and beyond. The hotel is gorgeous but the service is what makes this place. It’s the perfect spot if you are visiting Florence.
The Westin in Florence is the most charming little hotel, totally in keeping with the city. The front desk and concierges are ready to help you with tickets, reservations and recommendations (definitely ask them where you should have dinner!). Our rooms overlooked the square, just 10 steps from the church where Botticelli and his muse are buried. The rooms are not large but have high ceilings and perfect beds. The showers are in the bathtubs; I believe this is standard for most European hotels. Breakfast caters to both continental and American tastes, including an egg station. The hotel is located around 20 minutes (max) walk to most attractions. The hotel-recommended guide is worth taking for a day (around 80 euros an hour) as there is just so much to see - she sorted out the tickets (guides get priority for tickets and entrance) and she also planned out what else we could do for the rest of the visit. DM me if you want her name. Some reviewers might nitpick the old furniture in the rooms, the noise from the street etc etc but this Westin and Florence city is now firmly my number one European destination after this visit. Get ready to be blown away by the art and architecture!…
This hotel was a highlight of our first visit to Florence. Walked into a beautiful room with champagne and a balcony overlooking the Arno river. The interior of this hotel is classic Florence with ornate and traditional Italian flair. We opted for the breakfast buffet which was one of the best. Omelette station and a vast assortment of meat/grains/pastries plus everything else you can think of. The service was outstanding. Concierge helped with restaurant reservations, train transfers and navigating through the city. The rooftop bar had the most beautiful views of the sunset every night. My daughter said the fitness center was amazing. The rooms was large for 3 of us ( one king and a twin ). Large bathroom and all the amenities you would need. The black out curtains allowed us to sleep soundly along with the very comfortable beds. The location was central to everywhere we needed to be and never felt it was too far from anything. Every staff we encountered were courteous and friendly. I was embarrassed how little we knew of their language since they all seemed to be versed in English. I hope to visit Florence again soon and will be staying at the Excelsior for sure!…
Beautiful/Classy hotel, amazing staff, elegant/ornate decor, fantastic location all in an amazing city. The concierge helped arrange some tours for us before our trip, and the staff upgraded our room to an amazing suite. Hospitality here is second to none! The view from our room of the Arno river and Florence was like a renaissance painting every morning. Most things are easily walkable from this location and Florence is very safe. When in Florence, this is the place to stay in my opinion!
Excellent, excellent, excellent! Tye room, toiletries and bedding was excellent. Would recommend a room with a river view and a dinner at the top floor restaurant. The food and service is recommended and the location is central. The hotel organized a wine tour to Sienna for us that was excellent as well. Enjoy!
My husband and I have traveled to Italy before, but have never actually had an opportunity to stay in the heart of Florence (though we have stayed in the Tuscan Countryside). This year, for our Anniversary, we decided to spend a couple of nights in Florence to really get the local flavor and feel for the city. As frequent Marriott Bonvoy (formerly Starwood) guests, we selected the Westin Excelsior based on its location, beautiful photos, and wonderful Trip Advisor reviews. We are delighted to report that the Westin Excelsior lived up to expectations, and went above and beyond, even during times of COVID, to delight us and make our visit so special! Domenico, the GM, and the Front Desk Manager, Noemi, treated us (and our best friend, who was traveling with us!) with incredible kindness, hospitality, and customer care. When we checked in, Noemi came to personally greet us and give us a beautiful tour of the hotel. The history of the hotel and its location will amaze you--you literally feel transported "back in time" yet with the updated amenities of present day. We felt so special each time we walked through the gorgeous lobby and up to our room. You can't help but think and wonder about all the folks who have stayed at this property before, and the great history that could be told if the walls could talk. :-) We also enjoyed cocktails two nights in a row up at the beautiful rooftop bar, and the full breakfast one of our mornings. Every restaurant and hotel in Florence is doing the best they can with limited staff during COVID--we understood this and took the opportunity to enjoy the views and a less rushed environment. You could tell how much everyone cared and we appreciated being greeted my name each time we visited. I would also like to recognize both Caroline and Francesca from the front desk, who conversed with me during my Check-Out, answering any outstanding questions, and asking how our Anniversary visit was. It was so sweet to hear from Caroline just how special the Westin team feels about each other--they are truly a family--and it is clear in how much care they put into their work and to their customers. She also spoke about how lucky they are to work for such a kind and compassionate leader as Noemi. Leading by example is so important, and I commend both Domenico and Noemi for creating such a special family environment for every team member. I have stayed at Bonvoy properties all around the world, and when you find a "home away from home" like the Westin Excelsior, you have no doubt that you will return again. Thank you, to every single team member at the Westin Excelsior for making our Anniversary visit and first overnight in Florence so memorable. We cannot wait to return to see you again!!! Sending much love from Denver for a beautiful holiday season ahead and a very Happy New Year!!!…
