We stayed at Villa Cora for four nights at the end of September 2020. The property is exceptionally stunning with beautiful grounds and a lovely swimming pool. It is an elegant, luxury 5- star hotel in every sense. Everything about our stay was exactly as we expected and we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful and all our requests were met with charm and a willingness to help. The maitre'd went out of his way to ensure we were happy with our breakfast experience. It's a wonderful location if you want to escape the busy city centre. It is walkable but the hotel's complimentary shuttle service is fantastic and saves on taxi fares. We booked a superior room which was slightly smaller than we anticipated but had a wonderful view of Florence and was beautifully kept with a large marble bathroom. We would definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The level of service at Villa Cora is unrivaled! The staff here are beyond kind and welcoming to everyone from the moment you pull up. This hotel was my favorite during my 1 week trek around Italy and I wanted to cry when I left. It was so beautiful that I actually ended up relaxing at the hotel one afternoon and the next morning instead of going out exploring again because I just wanted to relax in its splendor. The staff are always willing to come get whatever is needed for you and schedule/recommend dinner etc. From the moment I began my stay to the moment everything was beyond amazing!
I booked this hotel through my AMEX portal which included breakfast daily, a room upgrade if available, guaranteed late checkout, early check-in if available, and a $100 SPA credit. At first I was disappointed to find out the credit couldn’t also be used at the restaurant but I am glad that I took advantage of the spa! I had a scrub/massage which was perfect after hiking to the top of the Duomo the morning before. I also enjoyed the steam room after and then the breeze/rain shower at the end.
I arrived around 11AM and they were able to check in me into my room. Due to the AMEX booking I was giving a room upgrade. While my room did not have a view, it was beyond fabulous! I had a large room, walk in closet, and great bathroom. I actually enjoyed being the separate building as it was very quiet and even had an underground tunnel to the main building for breakfast. This was perfect as it was very cold the first morning I was there. It also allowed me to walk around and explore the downstairs area of the hotel which had a super cute little hidden bar area I loved. The entire grounds were fabulously manicured and the main building had wonderful rooms you could relax and read in.
When I walked into my room initially I was greeted with a kind note and a bottle of Prosecco. They actually ended up bringing me the bottle the next day while I relaxed and enjoyed some sun poolside.
The concierge was able to help with anything I needed at any time and exuded the highest level of service I have seen. Every morning the bed was made and the curtains opened. Each night the curtains were drawn and treats left with inspiring quotes on my bed. Their level of care and help was so amazing I wanted to cry when I left the hotel and I hope I can return again one day. I loved it so much I ended up cancelling plans the day I was leaving just to relax in the luxuriousness of the hotel. Thank you Villa Cora for making my 1st trip to Italy beyond amazing. Special thanks to Lorenzo for getting me setup when I first arrived!

Their is a free shuttle to the city center during certain times of day but the walk is wonderful as well

I have been meaning to write this review for some time, as outstanding service really needs to be recognised and thats exactly what you get here - outstanding in every area. We actually stayed in September 2019. We tossed up between Four Seasons and here but am so pleased with my choice.
We stayed in the family room, the photos on the website really do not do it justice, it was beautiful. My children squealed with delight when they saw their room and all the things that the staff had done to make them feel welcome. The suite has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a spacious hallway connecting the two. It also has a private roof terrace which we enjoyed. Everything about this hotel is perfection. Yes it is on the outskirts of Florence but we enjoyed the 20 minute walk in and often would catch the free shuttle bus back. The hotel restaurant was excellent, so much so that we ended up eating there more than we had planned. Anything the children asked for they would make, which helps when you have fussy children.
But it was all of the personal touches that made this hotel stand out from any other, you can tell it is run by a family who cares about their guests. My children loved their private pizza making lesson by the chef in the hotel kitchen, they let me video the whole thing and then set up a table in the restaurant for the children to sit down and eat their creations - all of this was included with our stay! All children get very spoiled here.
In short, if I ever need to stay in Florence again, this will be my first port of call. Keep up the good work!

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying at Villa Cora with your family, we are so happy to have been your choice. But we are even happier and prouder that you took the time to write this wonderful review almost 2 years after your stay, it shows that your experience was truly memorable. Our strategic location that allows you to reach the centre on foot or faster with our shuttle service but enjoy the tranquillity of a periphery is definitely one of our strengths. We are delighted that your children enjoyed our VIB (Very Important Baby) programme. And we hope that we will soon have the opportunity to entertain them again. Thank you again for the nice words such as "it was all of the personal touches that made this hotel stand out from any other", which are like an award that repays the efforts of all the staff! Remember that if you are passing through Florence, Villa Cora is your home away from home!!! Kindest Regards, Ariela Duina General Manager

I stayed here with my fiancé in late January 2020 for two nights, we were there because we were planning to have our wedding held at the hotel. The reception upon arrival was very cold and I didn't get a sense of warmth or hospitality throughout my stay. I've travelled many places around the world and have stayed at numerous luxury hotels and my stay here was very disappointing to say the least, even when I had been slightly biased in a positive direction since I had already committed to holding my wedding there. First, the rooms' walls are paper thin. Because the hotel itself is an old building, you can hear the footsteps above and the faucet sounds from your neighbors taking a shower at all times of the night. If you stay, I suggest you ask for a room that is in the most remote and empty part of the hotel. On the second day, I had to move rooms to a more remote part of the hotel because I barely got any sleep on the night before and I'm not even a sensitive sleeper. Second, the hotel is very far from city center of Florence by walk which the hotel downplays in its marketing efforts. Third, there's a lot traffic noise when you are sitting outside since street with heavy traffic wraps 360 degrees around the hotel. It's really not peaceful at all. They are also very unethical as they refused to give us back our deposit for the cancelled wedding due to the coronavirus. There's a lot of better hotels to stay in Florence and I would not recommend this one.

Dear guest, Thank you for staying with us and the review which we always take very seriuosly and always belive for these to be constructive to improve and grow. I am sorry to hear this feedback but more sorry you did not mentioned it during your stay to immediately corrected or discuss it, or in the following four months, afterall it was the place where you would celebrate one of the most important day together with your family and friends. As far as our location we do state we are a resort in the city and that the walk is 20-30 min or a 10min ride with our complimnetary shuttle. In fact been away from the city and sorrounded by a park in a residential area is our selling point but we will be checking in case it is comunicated incorrectly. Lastly we are still in contact on several other emails regarding the non refundable deposit. Once again thank you for your feedback, Warmest regards Vanessa Giovannelli General Manager

We stayed here in the early part of September. It was a total delight.

The Hotel is situated @ 15 mins walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge in the residential area, Porto Romano. If you do not want to eat breakfast at the hotel (it is not included) a short walk down the hill provides you with many cafe options for a light breakfast and if you do not want to eat dinner at the hotel there are many restaurants that are, in general, italian food but of high quality.

The Hotel itself is wonderful; the rooms are luxurious and the pool/restaurant/bar area is an oasis of calm. Both lunch and dinner are served @ the pool area. Lunch at the pool bar and dinner in the poolside restaurant. The food is fantastic and they even have a Tapas menu that is served from 6.30pm until 9pm if you want something a little bit more informal.

At the end of the day it is the extra mile that hotels go to that elevates them. At Villa Cora daily we were treated to 'around the pool treats' be it a non alcoholic cocktail, pizza or some kind of other treat during the day. Nightly we got back to our room to discover lavender bags on our pillows, a small package of sweet treats and some words of comfort.

There is a shuttle service that can take you to wherever you want to go if you do not want to walk.

They really go all out here to make you feel welcome; as Petra (worked at the pool side bar/restaurant) told me 'think of this as your home whilst you are here' - it really is possible to do this.

My husband and I checked in to Villa Cora today as part of our honeymoon - we have been extremely excited for our stay here as we’ve read amazing reviews about the property. However, since the moment we arrived it’s been more than disappointing, to say the least.

The property is stunning; however, the customer service is borderline rude and non-accommodating. We learned that our Amex platinum card had significant benefits at the hotel, but the concierge refused our ability to use them and said we needed to book through Amex. Despite knowing it’s our honeymoon, he advised that he couldn’t honour any of the upgrades or perks that our card provides, and gave nothing but attitude.

We noticed that our room air conditioning wasn’t working during the afternoon and quickly reported the issue to the staff, who advised that they would look into it and fix any issues while we were out for the evening. We arrived back at our room, which was 25 degrees Celsius inside, and nothing was fixed. Upon asking concierge if anything had been done, they said someone came to look but would come back to fix it tomorrow. The only consolation they would provide during this hot evening was a portable fan. No room change, nothing.

This is extremely disappoint and unacceptable for a hotel that charges over 600 euros per night. We were so excited to share our experience with friends and family who are currently planning trips to Italy but unfortunately at this point we will not be recommending Villa Cora. They don’t seem to care about their guests!

Dear Mrs. Ameena, Greetings from Villa Cora and thank you for the time you spent to write your review, we really appreciate it. Our Guests are the most important thing to us and your comments will help us to improve our service. We really apologize if you felt that the concierge seemed to be rude during your check-in, we assure you that this was not intended. We are very proud to be part of the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts Program, we are member from many years and we always follow the program rules, in order to receive the benefits the reservation has to be made through American Express and not directly with the hotel. The concierge informed you that you can call the American Express Travel Service also after the check-in to pass the reservation to them and get the benefits but we were not contacted by American Express. Concerning the room upgrade upon arrival, we are more than happy to do whenever we have the chance, but during your stay the hotel was at capacity and there was no availability. We are very sorry about the temperature in the room, unfortunately in these days we are experiencing one of the worst “heat waves” in the last years with temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius so it was difficult to reach a lower temperature. As we were at capacity there was not the possibility to do a room move on the first night but we offered it the following day. Looking forward to welcoming you again at Villa Cora hopefully to have a second chance. Ariela Duina General Manager

Our family of 4 recently spent 6 nights at this truly delightful hotel. We booked a suite in the main villa and it had ample room for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 2 and 5). Villa Cora allowed our family to relax by the pool during the day in the extreme heat and then was perfectly located for us to explore Florence in the early evening. Pool side service was perfect and every day my children enjoyed pizza in between swims. The hotel was at full capacity yet the pool never felt too busy. Breakfast was delicious with homemade ricotta, and other wonderful treats. The concierge was terrific and made restaurant reservations for same day dining. They also arranged an incredible day trip through Tuscany at a wonderful farm. The grounds and spaces of the hotel are from a different era. This hotel is classic italian luxury and we cannot wait to return

Outstanding hotel! If we could give it an extra star, we would without hesitation.
Our stay at Villa Cora was the result of a cancellation of our flight to Paris. Serendipity! We had been staying in a villa in the Tuscan countryside and had already spent 2 days in the city center of Florence. When our flight was cancelled until the following day we decided we wanted to experience a different hotel outside of the frenzy and noise of the tourist area. As my husband and I would say, we hit an “11”. The setting, the staff and the accommodations are incredible. We admittedly are “hotel snobs” choosing the Ritz Carlton or Relais et Chateau hotels on almost every trip but found Villa Cora to not only match but exceed our expectations. As a Leading Hotel of the World we knew it would be wonderful but the attention to detail, food, and especially the staff were over the top. The staff not only help with any request, they also anticipated your needs. Our warm welcome by Vanessa on the hectic day of our arrival made us want to cancel Paris altogether just so we could experience Florence in a whole new way. We immediately changed from one night to 4 nights and booked the spa, facials and massages! Thanks to American Express we were given a $100 spa credit, upgraded to a larger room with a balcony and view of the city and a much needed early check in to shake off our travel hassle of the flight cancellation. We were also treated to breakfast daily which was sumptuous and not just your average buffet. Anything you can imagine was offered, all presented beautifully and all incredibly fresh and delicious.

We have seen Florence with all it’s splendor in a whole new light! You truly feel like royalty at this hotel so don your best clothes (although you do not need to) and pretend you are at a Medici palace as a guest!

My husband are visiting Italy on our honeymoon from the UK and a week into our trip we decided to leave one of our destinations early and booked Villa Cora one day before arrival. We booked to stay for 2 nights on a whim - we simply looked on the Telegraph for best five star hotels and liked the look of Villa Cora. My husband and I have travelled a lot apart and together and we would say that Villa Cora is high up there as one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff from the concierge, through to Porter and pool bar staff are beyond accommodating and polite. They remember your name and nothing is too much for them. The pool area is absolutely stunning with great food and beverage options. The rooms are beautiful and the hotel itself is absolutely magnificent. They offer a shuttle service to and from Florence most of the day which is a lovely touch and extra for your stay. We also walked into Florence and it is only about 25 mins. We will definitely be returning and will be recommending the hotel to our family and friends. You will not regret your stay at Villa Cora.

Firstly, this hotel is stunning, beautiful decor, lovely pool and not too far from the city. Breakfast is great and can be taken on an outside terrace or indoors, both amazing settings. Staff were excellent in general. There is a free shuttle which runs to the centre of Florence, which is very convenient. However, there were a few issues for us which prevent me from giving Villa Cora 5 stars:

1. There was a large wedding party there which included a couple of children who spent 3 days screaming in the pool, (actively encouraged by the parents when we asked them to keep the volume down), which spoiled the tranquility and enjoyment of the hotel. I have no issue with children at the pool, I have 2 of my own. Other children there were not behaving that way. This may be the responsibility of the parents but there was no intervention from hotel staff despite bringing this to the attention of management. In addition, because of the wedding, the major part of the ground floor of the hotel was closed to other hotel guests for almost a whole day
2. The air conditioning in the rooms struggles to keep up with the high temperatures in August. This applies to both the newer sections of the hotel and the main villa
3. Drinking water by the pool is chargeable and is expensive - this is free in most 5 star hotels poolside

Because of these issues, we did not come away feeling like we had a 5 star experience, such a shame as Villa Cora is lovely. If you are going to book, I suggest checking if they are hosting a wedding before going ahead!

There is a lovely small spa and indoor dipping pool plus sauna and invigorating scented and lit rain shower. This would be a very nice alternative in cooler weather. I also highly reccomend the superb massage therapists!!
