Helvetia & Bristol, a magnificent 19th-century townhouse in the centre of Florence, continues to captivate the most demanding guests with its timeless charm and impeccable service. An exquisite symbol of Florentine history, it is one of the most prestigious hotels in the city. Established in 1894, it has welcomed many influential international figures. A recent and extraordinary renovation has restored the hotel's true splendor, thanks to the contribution of Italian expert artisans who have brought to light its reimagined heritage. In the heart of Florence’s historical center, the hotel is perfectly placed for a visit to the city’s main attractions and is a stone’s throw from Via de’ Tornabuoni, the most exclusive shopping street in Florence. Its elegant rooms and suites have breathtaking views of Florence. While the hotel offers its guests the latest modern comforts, its superb renovation has preserved its architectural splendor and the atmosphere of an aristocratic 19th-century Florentine residence. The Bristol Winter Garden, the hotel's restaurant, offers an extraordinary food and wine experience. Il Baretto del Bristol is the new café in the historic center of Florence open from 7.30am - 12am. At breakfast, Il Baretto welcomes its guests with a rich selection of croissants with classic and signature fillings, accompanied by delicious coffees and cappuccinos. During the day one can stop for a quick lunch, an afternoon tea or a drink with friends. The All Day Dining menu signed by Chef Pasquale D’Ambrosio (available from 11am to 10.30pm) and the rich offer of signature cocktails will make every moment a perfect one. From the 24-hour room service to its Les Clefs d'Or concierges, the hotel’s focus is to ensure that all its guests have a thoroughly relaxing stay.

I tried to book a week at the hotel from the 18th to the 24 of july 2021 and I was told that the hotel will host a conference for travel agents from Brazil and other countries. What a nonsense in times of COVID. I moved my booking to another City. Shame!!

We loved the hotel and after staying in Florence many times this is our favorite! The hotel is classic elegance but newly renovated so best of both worlds. Location can't be beat, 5 minutes walk to everything and great restaurants, bars and best shops in Florence. The hotel has done a wonderful food partnership with Cibreo so they manage the hotel restaurant which is delicious! Also have a fabulous patissarie for take away coffee and pastries. Lastly staff is great and Vivianna and Massimo especially helpful .

I had been wanting to stay at this hotel for years, but found it quite disappointing. It has great 'bones', and the common areas are very pretty. We booked a Heritage Suite which had a nice little balcony overlooking the square; but it was oddly cramped, and the decor was overpowering. Worse were the soft touches: fake palms everywhere, annoying chill-out-style pop-music in the lobby, and a total mess of a breakfast system where you have to order one of five highly-restricted set menu options the night before. Hot dishes cost extra, which feels mean. Maybe things are different at the moment because of covid (like, no doorman, no evening maid-service in the rooms) but it didnt live up to my expectations, I'm sorry to say.

Dear charlesmU1797JA, We thank you for choosing the Helvetia & Bristol on the occasion of your stay in Florence and for sharing your review on Tripadvisor following your visit. On behalf of the team we are sorry you did not feel the hotel lived up to your expectations, and we apologize most sincerely. For the Helvetia & Bristol Hotel the safety of all our customers and staff is our top priority. For this reason, we have deployed a strict anti Covid-19 protocol. Our safety and health measures may have affected in the final result of some of our amenities and services. For information, at the moment the turn down service is available only "on request". It is a shame that our decor was not of your liking as recently the hotel was renovated including reimagined common areas and remodeled rooms and suites, enriched with fine fabrics, antiques and valuable furnishings thanks to the excellent expertise of Italian and Florentine artisans. We trust that you may pay us another visit in the future and give us the opportunity to revise your impression of the Helvetia & Bristol. Thanking you for your understanding, we send you our best regards, Luana Malloni Managment Assistant

This place definitely exceeded my high expectations. I tend to prefer sparkling new hotels, ones which are regularly and radically refurbished in the latest gleaming, and most hygienic, fashion. The H&B is definitely not one of those, so don’t expect dazzling new bathrooms and enigmatic modern art. I booked it simply in the (correct) belief that it had rooms of the size I was looking for. And yet it was so much more: the public rooms were aesthetically pleasing in a traditional way, the service was always very friendly, and the breakfast was served in elegant glassware and porcelain. Needless everything looked wonderfully clean. If there was a weakness, it was the result of Covid: the buffet breakfast was replaced by a confusing array of options, which puzzled even the staff. Nonetheless, my family and I are keen to return as soon as we can.
