Very convenient to the train station as well as close to the historic city center. Host was a delight - very knowledgeable about his city and accomodating to his guests. The BB is 5 flights up and Donatello took our suitcases up for us. We could easily manage the stairs after that. We had signed up for a day trip... More

We booked this B&B mainly due to the location. There are not many quality accommodations by the train station - this is definitely a hidden gem! It is 2 min walk from the train station and maybe 10 steps away from the bus to The Mall outlet. We walked everywhere in Florence except to piazzale michelangelo (we took bus 12).... More

Had a great stay at this b&b. It is super close to the train station and all the sights. We even walked all the way to Piazzale Michelangelo, which may be a bit far for some (we're a couple in our early 30's). We did have a bit of a mixup finding this b&b. There are two #53's on Via... More

We have just come back from 4 days in Florence staying in the Black Sheep which we found on here. The reviews were good and the reality even better. Great location near bus and train stations, and easy walking to most of the sights in the city. Super stylish and quirky...in a typical old Florence building that looks ordinary, just... More

The black sheep has a cosy and nice environment, which makes you feel at home the moment you step into the place. Donatello is the best host (who serves great coffee too). Warm hospitality and always ready to answer our questions and provide good recommendations.

This B&B has 3 rooms only and we were 6 in our group so we literally had the whole place to ourselves. Our host, Donatello, was already waiting for us by the door when we arrived from SMN station (we just came from Milan). The only problem here is the flight of stairs leading to the apartment but this is... More

Donatello's place is a nice place to stay in Florence. Very cozy, clean and comfortable, with good location. Breakfast served by Donatello was one of the best we ever had), also his recommendations regarding restaurants, places to visit and food and wines to try were very valuable. Thank you for everything! We could not have found a better place for bed and breakfast than with Donatello. He hopped off his scoother and greeted us with his open and friendly smile. It was a good beginning. Our Sliver Suite was large and it's ceilings were tall giving an impression of even more space. The silver touch was creative genius! Breakfasts were delicious... More

My sister and I stayed in a Gold Suite at The Black Sheep Bed and Breakfast for 3 nights. I must say that the rooms there are awesome, with lots of creativity and considerate thoughts for the occupant's comfort! Like what it says on its website, it is conveniently located in Florence's historic centre within walking distance from all the... More

We are a family of four (2 teenagers) doing a month haul in Europe. My wife chose this place by it's quirky name and after reading the reviews and seeing the piccies we were eagerly awaiting our stay. It was worth the wait. The best accommodation of our whole month on the continent. Although our current digs in Rome give... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
