The location is great, just right next to the Santa Maria Novella train station (around 10 minutes walk if you're strolling around). It is also a very centralised location, with just 20 minutes walk to the Florence cathedral. When I saw the previous reviews I wasn't expecting much from this place but the thing that changed my mind was the... More

Beds are good and comfy Bathroom is fine and clean Staff is ok, compared to general customer satisfaction in Florence. Location is good, 10 minutes away from the main station SMN. No breakfast. Internet in some rooms is weak. If you don't expect much, it will be very good

I stayed for 2 nights as a solo traveller in a 4 bed dorm with a private bathroom. The beds were comfy and the rooms a decent size, I stayed in the main building. There were kitchen facilities and a vendor also. The staff were friendly and it was a good hostel for meeting new people! The a.c is controlled... More

Hostel has attractive localisation, nice rooms with confortable beds. In room for 4 there were also closets with lamps , wardrobe, chairs on the balcony (however door to the balcony couldn't open). The only ruiny that couldn't be imporoved od equipement of the qitchen f.ex. There were no glasses or wine opener. All in all I like this place and I'll... More

The location of this hostel is only about a 15 minute walk (if that) from Santa Maria Station which was handy to get around the city. Let me just make it clear to you that while we were under the impression that the rooms had air conditioning (because it say's this on the webstie), we arrived at the room that... More

I will give them hostel credit where it is due, great location (5 min from station). And wifi though hard to connect to was fine once aloud to be logged in. However there was some major problems. Our room looked petty disgusting upon arrival, unmade beds left over bottles from whomever stayed before. The mattresses look pretty gross when checking... More

I have stayed in many hostels, and this was the most disgusting. It's in a sketchy, scary part of town, it smells like sewage, and it's filthy. I slept in a dorm room, with bunk beds so flimsy the whole thing shook when your bunk mate turned over. I got no sleep.Boiling hot, the a/c made a huge lagoon of... More

The staff is not really friendly. "They used sarcasm to things you need to solve". The room good (like a cheap hostel) but the bathroom horrible everything was a mess!!! There's no kitchen to cook.... (that's a big problem) I wouldn't stay here more than one night. And it is expensive for what it offers.

This hostel was pretty decent for Florence - 7 min walk from the train station, good wifi in the reception area, and friendly staff. However, my room did not have a lock and I didn't really feel safe because of this. Also - I am a 20yr old girl, and I was put in a room full of men of... More

So first things first.. location is pretty good and the hotel staff is friendly.. the room was basic as expected in a hostel.. it was fairly clean.. no problems there.. though wi-fi was a bit ok.. perhaps not too strong in the room as it was in the corner (that's my guess for the average/poor wifi signal strength).. but what... Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
