Very stylish hotel! I really liked the design. In every corner of this hotel you can find something interesting. The lobby and reception are so beautiful! The Superior Standard Room is not so big, but you will find everything you need. In our room we had a small balcony with a great view! Hotel location is perfect for tourists because...

Hotel Rosso 23 has a great location close to the train station and yet within walking distance of the major attractions in the old town. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The amazing foyer is really a talking piece and you just have to see it. I loved the tiny chairs on the walkways around the...

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel. Good location, basically walking distance from main attractions. Interiors are absolutely stunning in the building. I was alone so possibly that is why I received a tiny room on the top floor, I assume the room was made out of a previous attic. The shower was the tiniest shower I have ever seen...

Hotel is a bit hidden in the Square. Very close to train station and Bus station if you get your correct directions. Piazza is right opposite the train station behind the row of shops. You have to walk around the shops to get to the piazza. We were right in front of the hotel looking for it. Name is not...

the price and location were good but we got such a small room with strangely angled shower; the double bed filled the main room; the meals were good and well priced and the location was excellent for good access to what we had come to see with other good eating places nearby

Perfect location walking distance to train station on lovely square where you do not feel like you are near the station. Make sure to admire the Murano glass chandelier in the reception and the hallway ceilings reminiscent of the Sistene Chapel on the upper floor. My room and bed was spacious, though the shower was a bit tight. Very quiet...

Positives: A great place on a great square. Nothing is too much trouble. Easy reach to the main part of the city. Hassle free. Negatives: The standard rooms are quite small, smaller than what we have in the UK. We asked to be upgraded, which was done effortlessly and we were given a room similar size to a Premier Inn...

My husband and I had a 3 night stay here. It was our first time in Florence. The hotel is 5 minutes from the train station and is situated in a large Piazza which really comes alive Day and Night. The hotel once you walk through the doors of Number 21 , is a peaceful retreat from noise and for...

The hotel is less than 10 minutes from the main train station. We had a room overlooking the Piazza Novella were they had some good quality street music ie Guitar or Clarinet music by good musicians which was very pleasant. The room was nice and clean with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was fully fitted with a decent shower...

Room overlooked the Piazza Santa Maria Novella and in the early evening with windows open we listened to the street musicians. Extraordinarily large room by European standards, excellent staff and wonderful stay. Bit of a trek to the 3rd floor room but well managed by the staff.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
