I had a bad experience with the hostel in may/2015. The hostel is closed (they are renewing it or something). Nobody tells you so when you book or even when you confirm your arrival by phone. You arrive in the address and there is no way to get to know that the hostel is closed. The lady in the shop... More

Finding the hostel was a bit tricky, but boy was this place worth it. At a very minimal price, I stayed at this hostel with a pal of mine. There is a frequently clean and cleaned shared bathroom, clean linens, there is no breakfast - but we were given fruit and water bottles free of charge. Francesco is the kindest... More

We arrived at our check-in time and followed the email instructions to Condotta 3, but no one showed up, even after we rung the bell for Condotta House. After asking around the shops and calling the number on the email, we called the number on the placard for Condotta House and the owner showed up promptly and took us upstairs... More

When I booked a 'hostel' at just 20euros for a night in a single room with shared bathroom, I was just hoping for a bed and breakfast arrangement. But to my surprise, this Tasso hostel is a luxury hostel if I may put it so. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. You do have to become a member of... More

My sister and I visited Florence in the middle of a weeklong trip, and upon arriving at the hostel we found no one. Couldn't get in. We thought we'd been conned but after 15-ish minutes, a woman came up to me and asked if I was looking for the Florence Youth Hostel. It turns out they were remodeling the at... More

The only positive about this so called "youth hostel" was its location. apart from that everything else sucked. it was sooo expensive, you were kicked out from 10-2 every day, meaning you couldn't sleep in or come home for lunch. the manager was very rude and unhelpful, and the rooms were outdated and dirty. Would not recommend. You will easily... More

First, let me mention the good. The location is good - very close to the duomo and other attractions. They had computers with WORKING internet (not very good, but good enough to book our next hostel). Check out apparently ends at 10PM (during booking we were told 24/7 - but when we emailed right after booking he said 10PM so... More

We booked this hostel based on the reviews we had read on TripAdvisor and were sadly mislead. This is not a hostel. This place is actually Hotel Cristina, a one star hotel that is going under at least one other name, Florence Youth Hostel. We had been on a 3 week vacation so far and were looking for an affordable... More

The location is perfect, you can walk everywhere. The manager was quite rude and unfriendly but the other staff was really helpful and informative. There were only two shared bathrooms which was sometimes inconvenient, and the showers were tiny. The rooms themselves were very old fashioned, you have to get lucky with your room. I stayed in a four bed... More

On our Italian tour, we had rented a car and pretty much covered Italy from Sorrento to Venice and back to Naples. We had booked B&Bs in each place we stayed. Sorrento, Rome, Florence and Venice. All were nice, friendly and no negative surprises as we had done a proper research before choosing them. However, there was one I would... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
