At the end of a fabulous week spent nearby our party of 8 selected the Restaurant at the Cortona Resort and Spa for our farewell dinner party. Our experience was a major disappointment. The venue is exceptional but the kitchen and staff have no idea. Perhaps the chef had left ? Lovely young staff had no training on any aspect of a Restaurant . The food at best mediocre but in some cases not even a reflection of the written menu, dishes missed out, dishes delivered at the wrong time, our collective description being " Fred Carno's Circus ". Upon the wine front things get worse....the owners " own vineyard " Sangovasie was totally undrinkable...the young staff did try but have been let down by poor management. We are fair people and paid our bill and tipped the young team, if you ever read this and you are the owner we recommend you get a grip and quick or you will fail.

My friend and I spent a delightful week in this small spa hotel in Cortona. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They sorted out whatever we needed. I loved the outdoor heated pool which really helped with my sciatica. Sauna, salt room, relaxing room and massage were a treat. The buffet breakfast was delicious with really fresh pastries as well as local meats and cheeses. Evening meals were tasty too. Taxi rides to and from the city of Cortona are essential. It is a very interesting ancient city with a most interesting Etruscan museum, some wonderful paintings in the Diocesan museum and many cafés serving local as well as standard food. It was a memorable holiday.

This is a lovely hotel which is made even more special by it lovely spa. There is a pool which is heated and starts inside the hotel but you can then swim outside. We really enjoyed relaxing in the spa after a day of sightseeing All the amenities showers etc were high class. In the summer they also have a separate outdoor pool a short distance from main building through the attractive grounds We had a room in the main hotel which was a nice size with a small seating area and good bathroom with shower. Very clean room and comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was good. If you are slightly ambitious you can walk from the hotel up to Cortona along a quiet road. The hotel staff were so worried when we asked if it was possible. It's a long way up it's steep they told us several times. It was typical of their very caring attitude. As was true in all of Italy they carefully checked our vaccination status on arrival

Outstanding. The rooms, the grounds, the food, the pools, the spa, and the services all were outstanding. Our room was in the villetta, and offered the best bathroom/shower that I have ever seen at an Italian hotel. The room itself was bright and airy, yet with old Tuscan touches. The bed was perfect for a sound night of sleep. The expansive grounds are impeccably kept by the charming Massimiliano, including the 200 year old Sequoia tree (yes, from a seed brought by a monk from California). The pools were a gathering spot late afternoons, usually with a bit of Prosecco. Also, most of our group took advantage the spa. At first blush, I would not think of spending time at the spa in Italy; however, the spa made the trip so much more relaxing. The food, at both dinner and breakfast was delicious, beyond compare. We spent some time with the chef, Donato, as he shared insights about some of our favorites. This place is set apart by the service, think of Ritz Carlton service without the pomp. Sachith and Julia at the front desk were amazing, from helping us to plan the details of our next trip to Italy, to working through logistics on our current trip, they went above and beyond. I can’t speak highly enough about the wait staff in the restaurant, in particular Christian with help from Jerry. We met as guest of the hotel, and by the time of departure, we invited them to our Christmas party in Illinois. We will certainly see them again, in Cortona or back home when they visit. Amazing.

We had a wonderful time at the resort - the breakfast was satisfying, the staff was very pleasant, the grounds were well kept (including a nice heated pool), and the spa was a nice addition. Short drive to Cortona proper and there is a nice minimarket less than half a mile away.

We have mixed feelings about our stay at Cortona Resort & Spa, they do many things well but others leave a lot to be desired. Unfortunately the room we booked was next to a building site which was in operation throughout our stay which we were not advised of when we made the booking though they did kindly upgrade us to a large room within the hotel itself but unfortunately the airconditioning wasnt fit for purpose and made for many uncomfortable nights of excessive heat. This coupled with the fact that they do not offer complimentary water in the rooms did leave a sour taste as we found ourselves rather dehyrated throughout the night. The rooms themselves are very nice, the breakfast is very good, staff are helpful & friendly and the facilities are clean and maintained to a high standard. We only ate at the restuarant once during our 6 night stay but we were not blown away by the quality of the food and the choice was limited. Overall we had a lovely time at the hotel and would recommend it to friends and family.

We stayed here for four days in early July as part of our honeymoon trip to Italy. We were lucky enough to have a free upgrade to a junior suite in the Limona building and the room was lovely - the huge shower and bath particularly. However, we didn't need to spend much time in them as we were making the most of the Spa facilities. We loved the steam room and the Jacuzzi pool which is half inside/half outside. There is also a larger pool for swimming in within the gardens. Some of the spa and pool facilities are starting to show a hint of tiredness but not enough to be a big problem. Note that the location is too far from the main town to be walkable (at least in the height of summer) so we appreciated that the hotel has a good restaurant. The prices are quite high, but as expected in Tuscany, and the setting under the trees in the garden is very pretty. The staff in the restaurant were wonderful, advising of us of specials and wine pairings, and very friendly. The reception staff also helped us arrange a driver for wine tasting and an evening in the old town of Cortona. We did have a car for the rest of the time and would definitely recommend one or you might feel isolated. Oh, and if you have a sweet tooth you will love the array of pastries and cakes on offer for breakfast! Thank you for a great stay!

Let me just say that this place totally exceeded our expectations in every way except one-the air conditioning was lacking so the room was quite warm. Someone came to check it out twice, but never tried to move us to another room. Other than that, it was magical. The hot tub extends from inside to outside and is the size of the entire pool which was AMAZING. It’s absolutely beautiful and the staff has been WONDERFUL.
