We had a fantastic evening with a private (just us) cooking class with chef Cristiano. Very intimate, incredible food and more hands-on than any previous class we've been to. The taxi dropped us at the wrong location, so chef Cristiano came in person to pick us up. Dedication above and beyond & love for the art. Will come back, and would recommend dearly!
We visited here last year when doing a train tour of Italy. Enjoyed it so much we came back. Nothing is too much for Davide. He really makes you welcome and is a constant help to ensure you enjoy your stay. The setting is stunning and the rooms very comfortable. We ate there several times. The food was good, although the meat of one meal was tough, but when we raised it we were offered a replacement dish. Opposite is a cafe which is also very friendly and Cortona is stunning.
We stayed for four nights at Locanda i Grifi. The hotel was comfortable with lovely scenery. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Davide who helped us with planning out visits both in Cortona and villages nearby. The owner of the hotel and also the chef Cristiano made tasteful dinners at his restaurant. Local wines matched well with the food.
We stayed at this charming hotel in June 2018. They had the best showers here of all the places we stayed in our 3 week vacation to Italy. Besides the showers - our morning latte's delivered to our room was heavenly. Also when we were there we had a cooking class with Cristiano. He was informative, along with working with 10 of us with all levels of cooking experience. The staff at this hotel seeks to make everyone comfortable, we will be back!
We did Cristiano’s cooking class with group of 10 - then consumed the product labor. Cristiano was very patient and informative and the results were delicious! A Great experience all around and highly recommended.
I stayed at this charming hotel for 3 nights at the end of May, 2018. It was recommended by someone who is from the area and it did NOT disappoint! I arrived in the rain and Davide was waiting for me at the front entrance and came out with an umbrella to greet me and checked me in to my room with the most incredible view and a rainbow! The accommodation was spotless, the bed SO comfortable ( i am like the Princess and the Pea)! That view, just breathtaking. I was travelling solo before heading to Amalfi for a wedding. Solo travel in Italy isn't always easy, but Davide, Christiano and Stefano made me feel like I was an honoured guest. Davide had so many tips on where to go, where to eat, where to park etc that it made the time there so stress free and enjoyable. I dined for 3 nights at the hotel the food was OUTSTANDING as were the local wines. I love to cook, especially Italian food so I booked a cooking class with Christiano the owner/chef. It was so much fun and I learned some very valuable tips from this talented chef. The pool was lovely, perfect for relaxing for a refreshing dip after a day of exploring. It was a beautifully quiet location, just down the road from the famous "Bramasole", I enjoyed walking the roads - I only wish I'd had more time, so I will definitely be back!…
A group of friends, we stayed at the hotel for five nights. The rooms and bathroom are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff are most friendly and go out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. We would certainly look forward to a return visit on our next stay in Tuscany.
Just loved every part of our stay here. The breathtaking views over the Tuscan farmlands to the lake in the distance already make it worth the stay, but more than that is the wonderful, friendly, unpretentious and personal service from both Davide at reception and Christiano in the restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a very warm welcome from Davide who is very knowledgeable about the area and gave some excellent advice on where to visit, what to see. Chef Christiano is very present and attentive in the restaurant and has a great knowledge of wines in the region. They organised a great wine tasting, etc but the highlight was our cooking class with Christiano. What a lovely, modest, generous man, and excellent chef!! We loved the truffles and truffle oil he cooked with, and next thing he'd organised for us to see his supplier! Cortona itself is a gorgeous little village with some lovely bars and really good boutiques. If you want genuine, authentic, warm, friendly service, this is the place to stay. We will undoubtedly stay here again!!…
If you are looking for a quaint place to stay, this is the place. Everything exceeded my expectations. David is extremely helpful and knowledgable of the area. He always greets you with a warm smile. Cristiano was a wonderful host as well. If you get the chance take the cooking class with Cristiano, no matter how long you have been cooking for you will learn something new. The view was absolutely incredible. The hotel itself is well kept and clean. My room was both spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend this lovely spot.
It's our second time here and definitely not the last. What made us come back is unique place where you feel authentic charm of tuscany, can taste traditional food made with precision, have unforgettable stay as well as view and while having a meal get to experience a personal connection throughout all your time here. Therefore if you are travelling around tuscany and are looking for something special we highly recommend coming here. Moreover whether you are coming here for weekend getaway or prolonged holiday there is plenty to see around: the charming medieval town of Cortona which is also great for art and the surroundings of hilly Tuscany which is walkable or if you want to rent a vespa to feel italian, hotel team is always happy to help. Many thanks to Cristiano for brilliant food and the team of Locanda I Grifi for making our stay as perfect as it can be once again. …
