We spent a week in early June 2016 at Villa Ugo. This estate has been in the Sabatini family since the 1890s and is run by Ugo Sabatini. A friend had stayed there several times and raved about it. Ugo was wonderful and met us in a slight rain late Friday afternoon and led us up to Villa Lilliana. We... More

Our family gathered from Canada and South Africa for my 60th birthday at Villa Orlando. Ugo met us on our arrival and took us around the local store to get provisions and then guided us through the narrow streets to the villa on the hill. A perfect location for a family reunion. The villa was very comfortable - 4 double... More

We spent one week with good friends in villa Orlando during this winter and had the most wonderful time. The weather was sunny and mild, and the view from the house absolutely breathtaking. The beautiful city of Cortona is most enjoyable without the usual summer tourism and at NYE we where delighted to discover that the whole city dances joyfully... More

We've spent NYE at villa Ugo and it was fantastic! The house is perfectly located facing the beautiful valley and owners are really welcoming. In addition to producing their wine, they also produce their own Gin, and you should definitely try it! Tuscany & especially Cortona is worth visiting even in winter, without doubt we'll be back soon.

We have just spent a fabulous week at villa ugo. The villa is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. Owners are very kind and helpful and I recommend that you try their wine produced by their own grapes. We loved the area too, so many things to do, places to see and fabulous restaurants. I highly recommend a holiday there,... More

A group of us spent a week in two of the villas that Ugo has and we could not have asked for more. Beautifully appointed villas with spectacular views across the plains. All the essentials for groups or families - great pools with loungers and day beds, lovely terraces for evening drinks and barbecues and only a short journey from... More

Our first time in Villa Ugo and we hope to return many times over. It has magnificent views, beautiful gardens, swimming pool, a trail and the villa's accommodations are very comfortable. It has all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the hospitality provided by Ugo. Also, we had a great Tuscan meal cooked by the villa's chef. The location is... More

from the moment we arrived, we felt as we were in paradise! Ugo made us feel like we were his family. The house (Villa Orlando) was exqusite and the tranqulity was just what we were needed. His private chefs Ada & Enzo were the icing on the cake... we cancelled reservations at local restaurants once we tasted the delicacies in... More

The near unanimity of positive ratings perplexes me. Granted, my family's experience was limited to Liliana and Nello, and thus I have no opinions on any of the other properties on offer. Based on my other experiences within Tuscany, I would rate the Liliana's accommodations as okay, no better than adequate. The Nello facility is, on other hand distinctly substandard by... More

Thanks for your review. As you also underlined Villa Ugo usually receives very good reviews, all of which are made spontaneously by our guests. I am not sure which other experiences you have had in Tuscany, but, unless you stay in a 5 star hotel, which of course differs a lot in price and service, our villas absolutely reach the... More

Our first time to Italy; 2 days in Rome then a fun drive to Cortona for a week at Villa Ugo-Orlando. The villa was an excellent blend of old world charm and modern conveniences. The Villa has four bedrooms with four full bathrooms which allows a lot of flexibility. All amenities are provided. Local grocery store jaunts were a fun... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Near the center of the aptly-named Golden Valley of the Chiana River (the Valdichiana), some 400 meters above sea level but just a few kilometers from the town Cortona, Villa Ugo encompasses every quality of Tuscan charm, simplicity and rural beauty. Since 1890, my family, the Sabatini’s have lived in the 16th century Villa Ugo, surrounded by over 11 hectares of olive groves and vineyards. The groves were once divided into three fields, where secondary houses were inhabited by tenant farmers. These three Villas also date, in part, to the 16th century, and I have carefully and beautifully restored them while maintaining the style, history and culture of the area and mindfully adding all the modern amenities and comforts. During your visit, you'll enjoy almost intoxicating peace, glorious vistas, and direct contact with nature in these three independent villas, Casa Liliana, Casa di Nello and Casa di OrlandoMy family provides a personal welcome to you, and discreetly ensures that you will be well looked-after during your stay, catering to your needs, and assisting with most any requirement to guarantee your visit is a memorable one.Come join us here at Villa Ugo, with all of Eastern Tuscany, western Umbria and central Italy nearby to welcome your relaxation and exploration!Ugo Sabatini ... more   less
