One bad experience on last day, actually took my breakfast plate out from under me for a photographer after moving me to that very table. Didn’t want to make a Karen scene but asked how to make a complaint. No process so will just express my intention here to avoid hotels at 390€/night that make me feel humiliated. Addio
This is a nice hotel but it is NOT deserving of a 5 star status. As with other reviews the hotel is tired and whilst I appreciate that the pandemic will have added financial difficulties for the hotel modernisation is key now. I booked a sea view room well aware that the view was the main driver for the price. On reflection I’m not sure it was worth it. As mentioned the hotel needs to be modernised. The furniture is all dated and the walls need a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom is very tired with a shower head that only offered 50% coverage and looked like it needed to be de-scaled or replaced. The water also took 10 minutes to heat up when running the shower which is ironic as the bathroom has a poster asking you to save water for the environment. The towels are changed regularly but one of the towels I was left with smelt incredibly musty. The balcony furniture is also dated and the chairs are iron and uncomfortable. Cushions should be included as standard. The tv only played Italian channels which is fine but I would expect at least one English speaking channel. The wifi was patchy and dropped in and out. I did not have this problem at other places that I stayed at. The breakfast was poor for a 5 star. The continental offering is standard and fine but the only cooked option is scrambled eggs buffet style and bacon. If you want poached or fried eggs then you need to pay extra. I don’t think this is acceptable for a 5 star hotel. The coffee came from an urn which is also unacceptable for a 5 star hotel and is ironic as Italians take coffee very seriously. Coffee in a 5 star hotel should be freshly made and not sitting in a big pit waiting to be distributed. Whilst the breakfast staff were nice one member spoke limited English and given that, due to covid requirements, they serve you the buffet means that communication is hard to get what you would like. The pool area is nice and the pool is good but I think the pool attendants need to be more helpful and alert to new people arriving and setting up the loungers. Again, this is an expectation of a 5 star hotel. My stay was fine but I would not stay here again. This isn’t because it’s a bad hotel but because it does not merit 5 stars and is therefore not worth the money you pay.…
The location fully deserves 5*, while the condition of the room / hotel facilities and the service is significantly below the 5* standard. Based on other hotels in the same price category, we would have expected a much higher customer orientation of the staff (it is worth mentioning that, during our stay, the hotel was far from fully booked). Nevertheless, Taormina is great city and there are plenty of things to do outside the hotel.
Besides the fact that on the outside the hotel looks spectacular, even on the inside everything is set up to the last detail. Everything is very clean and sanitized, the hosts very welcoming and the service offered is definetely worth 5 stars, especially the staff who take care of the well-being of each client. I did a few massage sessions and I want to thank Elena in this way because she has golden hands. I am very impressed by the professionalism she showed and by the whole team. Definetely if visiting I would recommend. I declare myself in love with this place.
The Grand San Pietro is a beautiful hotel - highly recommend getting a sea view room. The accommodations were stunning and the staff was very helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect - walking distance to everything. Highly recommend - we will go back someday for sure.
We loved this hotel - beautiful views, modern big rooms (deluxe), lovely service with old world charm and unobtrusive efficiency. We had interconnecting rooms for a family of 4, each with a balcony. The pool is a lovely size and Dario at the poolside merits a special shout-out for being so helpful with moving our loungers around to escape the sun. The spa is lovely, great massage, food delicious... and a shuttle bus takes you to Taormina centre and back with notice of just one hour needed. All in all a wonderful place to spend a holiday and we will be back.
From the moment we arrived, we loved this hotel. Admittedly, it was off season and during the Covid pandemic, but the hotel was very comfortable, the staff were attentive, the room with the terrace overlooking the sea was spectacular and the level of cleanliness was excellent. We will definitely return.
We stayed for 5 nights in August. Definitely recommend getting a room with a sea view. Such a lovely hotel with a great pool and wonderful staff. Short walk into the centre but enough away that is was peaceful of an evening.
We found everything about the Grand Hotel San Pietro to be perfect. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we had ever experienced. Staff were extremely personable and accommodating. The hotel is conveniently located near The main street, Corso Umberto, which is lined with restaurants, jewelry shops and designer boutiques. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Corso Umberto. I would return to Grand Hotel San Pietro and highly recommend it to friends and family.
Lovely hotel, with sensational views from sea-view rooms, breakfast terrace, and pool area. Big rooms, nicely appointed. Very helpful reception staff. Reason why not 5* review...you'll want to use the shuttle bus to get up to the centre of taormina, as its a steep stepped 20min walk ( down is easy though). The shuttle only runs every hour and gets full quickly. We tried to book for the 7pm at breakfast time, and it was already full. I feel the hotel should really do a 2nd run..many people were turned away and faced the long walk up, or €15 taxi. But other than that...Hotel San Pietro is a lovely place to stay.
