After reviewing this property prior to our visit and having just stayed there for 3 nights I would say that it matched our expectations....The service (especially front desk) was great and the breakfast included in the room rate was plentiful...and the location was great......no complaints there..The room was quite spacious and we stayed on the 6th floor which probably has... We spent three nights in Taormina - our first visit - and stayed at Monte Tauro Hotel. It offers a great location, and the view from our 6th floor room was beautiful. Even though it rained and we couldn't see Mt. Etna (dubbed Mt. Etnot by my husband), the hotel's site and vantage point are quite beautiful. The staff were... More

We stayed here for a week and thought it was delightful. Although the hotel isn't very attractive from the outside, all the rooms have sea views and the the views out across the bay from the rooms are spectacular. The staff are really friendly and very helpful with restaurant recommendations and bookings and the breakfast buffet is great. Also, the... More

There is no denying it, this is not an attractive piece of architecture. Its concrete, brutal, and bland. Some people may think it looks like a multi-storey car park without the cars. The art work on display is garish and reminds you of giant scabs, blood clots, and blisters when you walk in - whoever chose these pictures? However, the... More

We loved our stay in this Hotel and our time in Taormina. We only stayed two nights and that definitely wasn’t enough time. We wished we could have had more time in this beautiful place. The staff is very friendly and attentive and speak perfect English. It’s very well located so that walking just a few minutes puts you in... More

The stars to this hotel were most likely given in the 1970's and never revised since then! The hotel is very depreciated, no investments made in the last 10-20 years! It is an ugly concrete building, very uncozy, and definitely does not look like the photos advertised! Our room - Junior Suite - smelled like cigarette smoke, had torn bed... More

Pros Amazing hotel perched on the top of Monte Tauro in the heart of Taormina. Monte Tauro is conveniently located on Via Roma, neighbor to Villa Comunalle or Public Gardens and Via Bagnoli Croci which is 1km to the Via Pirandello Bus Station (where all excursions depart from Taormina). Hotel is built of concrete and has private semi circular balconies... More

The hotel it self is an interesting 1970 style design, and the bathrooms look a little 70s still and could do with an update. The rooms were clean and tidy and the A/C worked well with simple control to adjust the temperature. The lift at the back of the hotel can seem a little slow at times but you don't... More

Had a nice stay at Monte Tauro Hotel, but there are pluses and minuses. The hotel is located on the lower portion of the Taormina slope, so it is convenient for walking into town for restaurants and shops; only a 10 minute walk to the ancient Roman theater. Breakfast was excellent. Staff helpful. Because of the location, you don't necessarily... More
