Think old school charm and service but without the fussy pretension of the big chain hotels. We stayed here for seven nights and loved every second of our visit. The hotel is a beautiful building, well-maintained and staffed by amazingly friendly, helpful people who are clearly proud of where thy work and the jobs they do. The room was spacious, clean and had a view to die for (the sea on one side and Mt Etna on the other. The short walk through the garden to the main street was always pleasurable. The hotel is quiet but only two or three minutes away from the busy main street with all of the shops and restaurants. Over the seven days the staff got to know us, know our breakfast choices and happy to help and offer recommendations. I can't recommend this hotyel highly enough - Taormina is beautiful, but the Villa Schuler stands out.

Dear guest, yes, Villa Schuler is a hotel since 1905, so the oldest owner-run hotel of Sicily. The Schuler family has welcomed guests from all over the world for 3 generations and to us, that means a firmly convinced commitment to genuine old school hotellerie, a tradition that, in order to survive, we like to cultivate day by day. We try to be old-fashioned in the best possible way with a professional family-style approach to our guests combined with all modern quality comforts. Having only 32 rooms and a motivated multilingual staff means also that we can provide very personalized services. The most important thing when staying at a hotel is the good feeling of being welcomed and personally looked after and we are glad to read that you felt and enjoyed exactly that old world style. Thank you for the compliments and “arrivederci a Villa Schuler”. Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I have visited somewhere around 50 countries in our life, and Villa Schuler is truly one of the standout hotels for us. The hotel itself is beautiful, one block from the main street, and the views are literally unforgettable. Never before have we prioritized time on the terrace / deck of our room, but between the view of Taormina and the Mediterranean, and Schuler's thoughtful touches (a retractable shade on the deck, lounge chairs with individual shades), it was a wonderful place to spend a little time. On top of that, the staff are truly five star and practice the old and often forgotten art of hospitality. This was true of everyone including, the front desk, the bellhops, and the breakfast staff. Thanks for all of them for making our stay so wonderful. Speaking of breakfast, it's stupendous. Everything is farm-to-table fresh, the number of items spectacular, and the quality top notch. Anything that's not baked is made-to-order for each guest. And all of this is served either in a beautiful area overlooking the Mediterranean or in a beautiful dining room. Hotel Villa Schuler is the stuff dreams are made of. We will never forget it.

Dear Aaron G, It is with great delight that we read your absolutely wonderful review about your recent experience at the Villa Schuler. Reading that an experienced traveller as you appreciated the spirit of the „old and often forgotten art of hospitality“ is gratifying, because we also firmly believe that traditions, in order to survive, have to be taken care of day by day. Hotel Villa Schuler (1905) is the oldest owner run hotel of Sicily and for all of us it is a big privilege to have the chance to welcome in our “home” guests coming from all over the world and we feel both testimonies and ambassadors of the beauty, the rich culture, of the nature and of the fragrances and tastes of Sicily. Not a job, but a way of living. We showed your comments also to our staff and they were particularly touched by your comments regarding their service to you. We do hope that we will have the pleasure to personally welcome you back to our old world charm Villa Schuler in the not too distant future. The location cannot be beat. This is a charming little boutique hotel with a colorful past. Our room was spacious and comfortable with tons of shelves in the bathroom and outlets in all the right places. The staff were friendly and helpful. A perfect spot. The view from our room was beautiful.

Dear Raphjh, thank you for having mentioned a very fundamental aspect: functional ergonomics. This is why guest suggestions and reviews are so important to us, as owner and manager. We like to listen and to take note. Then, each year we close for our traditional winter refurbishings that we take care of personally, both in the planning as well as during the actual works. A well-designed hotel room should enhance the purpose for which it is intended and both aesthetics, as well as ergonomics and functionality are our starting point and our goal for any refurbishing we make in order to combine them with contemporary hotel room equipment standards. Especially during our traditional closing period (end November to the beginning of March), we personally spend hours and have even slept in many of our hotel rooms, trying to find out how things really work. Sometimes just little changes in modifying the positioning of things improve the guest experience. And so, as you said, plenty of bathroom shelves and many electric outlets are one of the fundamentals. Running a historic family hotel is not a job, it is our way of living. Thank you again for your kind review. Christine and Gerhard Schuler owner and manager Hotel Villa Schuler, Taormina link to Hotel website at the top center of this TripAdvisor page

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this wonderful hotel. Everything from start to finish was just perfect. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We were never in doubt after reading the reviews on this hotel which our daughter had booked for us. The trip was made by seeing the wonderful Andrea Bocelli. If anyone is thinking on booking this hotel my advice would be GO FOR IT. You will not be dissapointed. Great location too and as I say everything was just PERFECT. Thanks to all at the hotel for making our stay perfect and we will definitely return. Carol & Brian Mcleod Edinburgh, Scotland

What an amazing surprise when we arrived at this hotel! First of all views from the outdoor terrace where breakfast is served are breathtaking! Although our room had garden views what amazing hardens are these!! All staff is friendly, professional and helpful with everything. Room is in a classic style, not modern at all but has everything you need and is retained at a very high standard both furnishing and linen with an excellent matress and pillows. Breakfast although not a buffet, has everything you need (only problem were the bees but staff did everything they could to take care of the situation!). Hotel also has parking available which is a big plus! (We had booked an offer with free parking via the hotel's website). Literally few steps up (through the amazing garden) and you are in the middle of Taormina's main pedestrian street where all the action is happening. Many options for day trips to beaches and tours are offerred at the reception. All in all a gem boutique hotel which I would highly recommend!

Dear HelenNicosia, good to learn that also our economy rooms to the garden side/garden view, are appreciated as far as quality, furnishings, and amenities are concerned. Two of the details you praised deserve some more info: our beds and our parking facilities. BEDS: All our rooms have the same quality beds. Our guests‘ sleeping comfort is our utmost concern, so all our rooms have comfortable orthopedic beds, which can be prepared with separated beds, as twins, or with a large double bed. Each bed is prepared with 4-season hypoallergenic duvets and two hypoallergenic pillows per person. In our Superior Seaview Rooms, in our Top Floor Junior Suites, the Garden View J. Suite and the Palm Terrace J.Suite the double/matrimonial version corresponds to a queen-size bed (170×200 cm/67×79 in). All brand new beds, orthopedic mattresses and allergy-free pillows by SIMMONS. PARKING FACILITIES: Taormina HAS parking problems and our Villa Schuler is one of the very few hotels in the medieval town center to have enough garage spaces directly on the premisses combined with efficient valet parking. Once our guests reach the hotel using the detailed driving instructions emailed with our booking confirmation, they just stop on one of our hotel parking in front of the building (yellow lines) and we'll do all the rest. Our reception staff will see you arriving on out CCTV and one of our valets will come down immediately, help you with your luggage and then will park your car in our garage located just below our panoramic Palm Terrace both on you arrival day as well as on any occasion you will drive back to our hotel after your day excursion. Guests reserving directly on our official website get not only the full availability of rooms to choose from as well as our Best Available Rates. They also get discounts as for example for our garage valet parking. Normally Euro 20, for direct bookers Euro 16. In certain Special Offer periods, as you reserved one, parking is FOR FREE. Looking forward to welcoming you again in our old world charm family hotel, „arrivederci a Taormina“.
