Italy at its finest! The people working there are super helpful and the views are breathtaking. Our junior suite was more than comfortable and the breakfast was fab. Strongly recommend to any future guests!
Villa Ducale is an amazing hotel, full of charm. The views are stunning, you can see Taormina and Etna volcano. The rooms are so special and cozy. Great value for money, highly recommend it! My stay there was absolutely perfect thanks to the great service of its workers, always helpful and kind!
We have visited this hotel many times and have never once been disappointed. The view must be the best one in Taormina and the warmth of the welcome from the staff is second to none. The restaurant menu and food is of good quality and the night time view from the dining terrace is spectacular.
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Villa Ducale for 4 nights in early September. We absolutely loved it. We stayed in the design suite which is right next to the pool. The room was clean, spacious, and had an incredible view from the balcony. The restaurant at the hotel was delicious. We ate there twice for dinner and every day for breakfast. The views from the restaurant were gorgeous- Mt Etna to your right and the cliffs of the island to your left. The staff at the hotel was helpful and accommodating. They have a shuttle service to four different beaches and the shuttles run frequently so you have lots of options on times. Since the hotel is so high up in the hills, they also have a shuttle down to corso Umberto, but if it’s cool enough, you can walk. They’re also located near the steps down to the street. I would recommend this hotel 100x over! We had a perfect experience.…
rarely if ever leave a review for a hotel but for Villa Ducale exceptions should be made. from a shaky start (due to miscommunication on my part about a revised room booking made on the run while travelling) to checking out having experienced consistently high quality service across all the staff, what a wonderful few days Villa Ducale has been. from front of house management (thank you Francesco, Massimo and Daria for wanting to help when you could so easily have said “tough, your mistake”) moving me to an incredible room, wait staff Jessica and Max with a genuine smile day and night, sommelier extraordinaire Francesco to help me tour Sicilian wines by the glass (a small but appreciated gesture for the solo traveller), to the immediately responsive and helpful team driving guests around town and making sure our surroundings were as beautiful as the location. All photos below from my room or the restaurant terrace. I don’t think any morning coffee view will compare to that one from now. Flawless. My only complaint is that I can’t stay longer and I look forward to a return visit with my family. Un grande grazie a tutto il team. X…
Excellent Service! The restaurant was excellent! Lamb Chops superb and the veal cheeks were delicious! Pasta dish outstanding! Desert was also very good! The Chef came out and spoke with everyone! The view is amazing!
Breathtakingly beautiful hotel, really helpful and friendly staff, lovely room. On our honeymoon, we were greeted warmly on arrival and upgraded to a larger suite with sea/volcano views. Helpful shuttle service (book in advance) to the town centre as taxis in Taormina are crazy expensive. If anything might be improved, I'd suggest the pool might be retiled as its loose plastic lining feels a little cheap compared to the quality of the hotel.
Well, this is going to be quite a long review, and probably the one of the most controversial one among others. I gave 3 not because it's "average" but rather because there are lots of perfect things in this place alongside of a few very significant drawbacks. Starting with good ones: - breathtaking view, literally! - excellent food, both breakfast and dinner (I wrote a separate review for the restaurant) - large and exceptionally convenient shower (really, like nowhere else, it's hard to explain...) - very friendly staff Now to the drawbacks: - The Room. We booked the "design suit" aiming to give some privacy to our teenage daughter. Obviously the most expensive room in the hotel - and it was a big failure. Maybe there was some "design" intent - but it was counter-functional, for two reasons: (a) inner doors are made of glass, half-transparent that can't be shaded - so the light comes in all over the place with the sun rise (did I say privacy?) (b) windows: the window in the living room is floor-to-ceiling and does not open, so you are forced to sleep with AC on, while the window in the bedroom is actually a glass door to the terrace accessible from public areas, so you have a choice between sleeping with AC on or sleeping with the door open to all - Shuttles: yes, I knew that there's nothing in the walking distance from the hotel - and I was counted on the shuttles provided by the hotel, both to Taormina old town and to beaches. None of these were practically useable: (a) shuttle to Taormina goes approximately every two hours to each direction, and it's a 8-seater minivan. We managed to catch it on the way down - but never on the way up, it was always pre-booked and full (b) shuttle to beaches costs 25-30 euro per person, which includes sunbed and umbrella. If you go by car (or even taxi which costs 15 euro flat) - a pair of sunbeds and umbrella cost 15-20 euro, and we went to 3 different beaches in the area. So the combination of nothing in the close proximity and unusable shuttles is a killer. - Parking: I wrote to the hotel couple of months in advance asking about the parking and the need to reserve it upfront - and got a nice answer saying "don't worry, we have a parking for our guests". In practice - the parking is way too small to accommodate all guests' cars. The most annoying thing was on the 2nd day, when I came and saw a free slot on hotel's parking, but I was told that it is kept for another guest. Despite my written request months (in plural) ahead to reserve a parking.…
WOW! Stay here! Exceptional customer service! Perfect location! Unparalleled views including Mt. Etna - rooms, restaurant and common areas!! Complimentary shuttle service to Anywhere nearby! Oh, the restaurant is just fabulous, from the included breakfast to the the superb restaurant. I could not order enough! Oh my, the filet! The desserts! I have been almost everywhere - and I want to live at Villa Ducale! Absolutely exceptional! Accomodations, food, gorgeous views, and most importantly the first class staff!
Wow. What a location overlooking the town of Taormina. The view was majestic overlooking the town and out to sea and this was only outdone by the quality and standard of the hotel. Nothing could be faulted during our stay. A special shout-out to the hospitality staff headed by Max who was an outstanding host during our stay and the kitchen staff who did a magnificent job (the pastries and cakes were amazing)
