We were greeted by a very rude check in clerk on arrival which was unfortunate as all the other staff were polite (but not many around). Our room was a classic room which was extremely small. The bathroom is tiny and only person can enter at a time. The shower also flooded onto the floor and though we told housekeeping it was never fixed. I imagine it has been this way for a long time and still is. The hotel is superbly located but the grounds are tired and not maintained as a luxury hotel should. The garden was overgrown in places and in need of some attention. The pool has an amazing view but was slightly cloudy at times. The sun shades were torn and shabby. Overall, this was the most disappointing hotel of our trip (we stayed in many that ranged from 3 to 5 stars). I would suggest a downgrade to 4 star and perhaps a guest’s expectations may not be so high. Therefore, at the high price rate and low standard I can only label the Ashbee as barely adequate. We did voice our concerns to the rude check in clerk who became even ruder. When asked if there was a manager he informed he would pass on the contact but we never heard from him again. If there was another free hotel I would have moved after such treatment but there was nothing available. I would suggest only booking here if you get a larger room at a good rate. Do not book a classic room.…
Unequivocally, The Ashbee is one of the great hotels in all of Italy. The location is magical. Although, it is extremely convenient to the main part of Taormina, It is secluded, private and exclusive with astoundingly beautiful views of hills and the sea. The service was impeccable. Every person was professional, polite and friendly. They were conversationalists when you wanted to talk but never intruded when you wanted privacy. They were always helpful and were there when you needed them. In particular, the concierge was most helpful to every need or question. During our five day stay, the concierge desk, (in particular - Francesco) was knowledgeable about local attractions and restaurants and was extraordinarily accommodating to our every need. The Ashbee is the epitome of a luxury hotel. The hotel is appointed beautifully and provides the sense that you are in a private villa. The rooms are large and pleasing and the bathroom is modern and spotless. The hotel combines old world charm with all of the modern conveniences and appointments. In addition, the hotel has a fantastic restaurant providing further enjoyment to our stay. The dining experience was one of the two best experiences that we had in all of Sicily.…
Best Pasta In Italy. La vecchia Taormina, nicely seasoned and decorated with local, fresh ingredients. Nice vegan / vegetarian option. And quite frankly, best pasta I ever had in my life. Just ask your waiter for the “old Taormina pasta”. Also, the hotel has an outstanding view overlooking Sicily.
Location is absolutely georgous. Service impeccable Only 24 rooms in 3! buildings. That makes a privacy feeling real Cleanliness is unbelievable Parking space available on premises. Who knows Taormina, knows this rare exception in any hotel in Taormina. We shall be back - You go and you won't be disappointed
A luxury hotel that stands up well to this category even though it is small. Food and beverage quality and service are top-notch, unbeatable location. Heartfelt thanks to Carmelo, who went out of his way to accomodate our requests and recommend restaurants
Delightful three nights at this intimate hotel. The staff knows you from the start and makes your stay just wonderful! Dinner at St. George was pretty much perfect. The food was creative, the dishes and glassware were stunning, but most of all the service was top notch. Truly one of the best meals we’ve had. So close to the main drag in Taormina but very quiet at night. Highly recommended!!
Even in this more challenging time - the team at the Ashlee did a super job of making us feel safe and comfortable at all times. Wonderful food , excellent service from the experienced friendly team. New chef presenting a really interesting menu encompassing fantastic fresh ingredients . We will be back as soon as we can!
This is a town where you really need a room with a view which ours did not have. We were disappointed on several counts. Our particular room was very small, close to a noisy road, there was an extremely limited place to hang clothes, no power points and none of the usual amenities like bottled water let alone tea making facilities. Then there were, in our room, printed rules and regulations for proper conduct (a little insulting). While they have a Michelin starred restaurant it was impossible to get into. The view from the breakfast facility was stunning but breakfast itself (thought beautifully presented) was very limited in its choices. In addition, and as other writers to trip advisor have noted, some of the staff were condescending and unhelpful. I would not recommend this hotel.…
We spent 3 weeks in southern Italy and the Ashbee was one of our very favorite places to stay! The view from the main lobby and restaurant is fabulous - the entire bay! The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was in a separate building on the top floor. We did not have a view but we had a somewhat private garden patio where you could read outside. Our room was very pretty and comfortable. The hotel is a just a short walk from the main tourist area of Taormina so walking to dinner or historic sites was very easy. While it was a bit cool when we visited, we didn't swim but the area by the pool is beautiful. Staying here was truly a joy!
Friendly and helpful staff as you would expect from an LWH hotel. Breakfast is on the rooftop with an amazing view of the sea and mainland on one side and town just moments away to the other. The gym is outdoors with a stunning view of the sea but not much good other than for a run or cycle to work off all the carbs whilst in Sicily! I took a hotel car to the airport and enjoyed a good chat with Fabio, the driver.
