The day before we were due to fly I received am email from Jet2 to say our hotel had been changed from the Olimpo Le Terrazze to the Ariston and how glad they did. This hotel was fantastic. From the moment we checked in until the minute we left we had an brilliant time. We were allocated room 142 which was lovely, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and clean towels every day. What a lovely surprise we got when we opened the patio door and shutters to find a huge terrace. Yes it was shared by 3 other rooms separated by little screes but there were 2 sunbeds as well as a table and 2 chairs at each and for most of the time we were there, the terrace was all ours. The view from the terrace was amazing, overlooking the sea, you could sit there all day and just look at the view. Never before, apart from Caribbean Hotels have we chosen from a menu for lunch and an a la carte menu for dinner along with an extensive wine and drinks menu. The food was delicious and always piping hot. A previous reviewer complained about the breakfast! granted there was no full English but if that's what you expect maybe holiday in Blackpool in future. OK the bacon and sausage were not as we know them but there was plenty of choice, scrambled and boiled egg and some morning fried also, plenty of meats, pate and cheese with fresh breads and rolls and also plenty of fresh fruit and yogurt and freshly squeezed orange juice. The restaurant and bar staff were all lovely, I need to mention them personally, Maitre De Caludio, Alessandro, Alberto. Rino an Cinzia as well as Giuseppe in the bar. Thank you for organising a birthday cake and prosecco for my husbands 70th birthday and for just looking after us. Taormina itself is a beautiful place, quite hilly but lots of little lanes and steps, each day we found another street to discover. Lots of very beautiful buildings and again beautiful views. I always say I wouldn't go back to the same place twice but my husband and I would definitely make an exception to visit this beautiful hotel again. Thank you Jet2 for changing our hotel at the last minute.…
As soon as we stepped into the hotel on arrival we had a warm welcome from the gentleman behind reception, we are 4 ladies on holiday from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble, infact we requested to change rooms from double beds to singles as we were an all women group …. They happily did this with a smile. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. There is a small swimming pool, lots of seating areas to relax in, and the food is lovely. Although we had booked Bed and breakfast we ate dinner in the hotel on a few occasions. The food was always delicious, and plentiful. The service can be a little slow at times, but it all comes out eventually hot and well presented. The set menu is good and offers choice, equally the Al a carte menu is varied and well priced. We did find that some of the waiting staff gave service with a smile, others were a little brusque and straight faced. It took a lot to reorder drinks or if you needed anything extra for your meal. They were all working really hard though. All in all no real complaints, but I would like to have been attended more. On the other hand, we came in one day from a morning trip to Etna, cold, wet and hungry, although it was out of restaurant hours, seeing how cold we were they rustled up some hearty soup and other hot food…… all with care and a smile. I can’t fault this Hotel, it’s well placed for Taormina centre (just a 10 minute walk). Spotless, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff ( particularly in reception). Would def recommend. We used the open top bus for a day out, buying tickets from the young man In front of the shop in the bus terminal. He was knowledgable, funny and spoke good English. The tour was a get off get on, driver was amazing, but when yr due uto be collected make sure you are very visible at the stops.. wave lots as they don’t tend to stop at every collection point unless asked to do so. Lol we had to wait an hour for the next one to come round at one stop. We really enjoyed the ‘godfather’ aspect of the trip, the town was very atmospheric. I have to say as well that we booked this through Jet 2 holidays. The jet 2 experience was faultless, from travel to transfers to reps(although they were not always around). One of us needed a doctor, the 24 hour helpline was very easy and informative. They even followed up on us after to make sure all was ok. Lovely holiday thanks all xx Places to visit Island Isabella and the beach before it Syracuse, beautiful buildings, places of interest, cathedral, fountain of the goddess Diana Taormina amphitheater and centre Mount Etna The village where The godfather was filmed We booked and used a private vehicle and guide. Fabio was amazing, so knowledgeable on everything Sicilian and beyond. There were 4 of us so it was a little more expensive than coach trips but we saw so much more and stopped and started as we pleased. Contact details as below TAORMINA CAR SERVICE Via L. A pleasant stay on the whole, but with several annoyances along the way… The largest being the four stay rating this hotel advertises, which was probably awarded in the mid-80’s and has managed to cling to due to its brilliant location, views and exterior appeal. The interior design doesn’t appear to have been touched since the last renovation which I can only assume took place again, in the 80’s. The hotel is tired to say the least, from the bed linen to the table cloths.. it is in desperate need of renovation. Our room was spacious but tatty and terribly laid out, the most significant stand out’s were the old (and smelly) bed lined, sagging mattress, paper thin walls (to the point where we could hear everything our neighbours were doing) When we arrived, our shower tray filled with water immediately due to it being blocked, the aircon didn’t work and when we asked for this to be fixed, we were told the hotel doesn’t actually turn the aircon on until June… JUNE! It was 27 degrees on one of the day’s during our stay in April. The breakfast was one of the worst hotel breakfast’s I have ever encountered… nothing more needs to be said on that front. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, the pool area well maintained and location-wise great for a short walk into town with access to the cable car. I wouldn’t be staying here again.…
My wife and me stayed at this hotel just for a night, but we were surprised by the courtesy of the staff and the quality of the breakfast and lunch at the grill. The prices are quite low considering the food and we definitely recommend the hotel to others.
The staff was very friendly. the location is great with a great view. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. The cleanliness was impeccable. The hotel is very well located being close to both the city center and the bus station. I will gladly return!
We stayed a few days here, enjoying a very nice view, clean room, good breakfast and we met some really friendly people. The services were really great, for sure we would choose this hotel again if we come back.
Thanks to the whole team, best service. Amazing view! We had our 1st wedding anniversary their! We had compliments in the room when we arrived - wine and fruits! It was amazing! Super close to all the interesting places. We reserved the parking for 3 days and it was good that they have places to park. The hotel is super clean, the view is glamorous. You hear the birds all around. Its like a real cinderella story.
Rooms very clean and perfect equipmed. Excellent buffet breakfast and dinner. Excellent service polite staff, very helpfull. Spectacular view of the city, convenient parking, situated close to the main tourist spots.
I really like the balcony of my room, beautiful view, fantastic location, I arrived in Catania airport, infront of the arrival in the right side, there are some ticket booth, you can buy the ticket, going to taormina, the hotel is in the upper side of the bus terminal in taormina, easy to get there.
I had an extended stay at Hotel Ariston as part of a group trip. This was late in the season and my room was a little cold in the evenings. Otherwise my room was lovely with beautiful views and functional furnishings and bathroom. A high standard of cleanliness. Buffet dinners in the restaurant were varied and tasty. The staff were helpful. The hotel is located right by the buss terminal in Taormina which is helpful.
