The hotel is elegant, well-located, and finely appointed. The breakfast was excellent. The view from the restaurant--spectacular. Check-in was efficient and extremely personal, as well as personable. It included an escort to the room and a review of the hotels amenities. Parking was convenient. HOWEVER, I unfortunately left a personal device in my room, and failed to discover the oversight... We stayed at the beautiful Grand Hotel Ortigia, an old hotel with incredible harbour views. The hotel was built in the late 19th century and is in close walking distance to everything on the small island. The foyer is grand with high ceilings and luxurious decor and the customer service was amazing! Rooms: Classic and comfortable. Wonderful rain shower in... More

This was an exceptional experience for the most part. The location is ideal because everything is readily accessible from this point - the town, seashore, etc. Because we were upgraded to the nicest suite of Aretusa, we each enjoyed our private baths. Meals were extraordinary as well. Would have liked a pool or soaking situation however.

We ignored a previous review which stated that the A/C did not work - these things happen right? We assumed it was a one off - IT IS NOT! We booked two rooms, a Junior Suite and a Single Room which also had a mezzanine sleeping area. The Junior Suites are not as large as shown on the site. The... More

The best thing about this hotel is its location in Ortigia near all the historical sites. The outside of the hotel is historical and the lobby is well maintained. However, the rooms are small. We heard several people complaining about it. We had a junior suite which is basically two small rooms on different floors of the hotel which were... More

Stayed here for 5 nights in August 2016 as a single traveller. Stepping in to the hotel it was well air conditioned and very comfortable, and I was dealt with immediately with no fussing about. In the lobby there are very comfy seats where you can rest and gather yourself if you have had a bit of a tiring journey... More

We wanted so much to fall in love with the Grand Hotel Ortigia but it is hot in Siracusa and impossible to sleep without working air conditioning. The front desk will put on a good act, pretending they are shocked, and will insist that they can program your A/C unit remotely, (which is actually very creepy)! In the end however... More

I just spent four nights at this hotel and i highly recommend it. It is located in the best area of Ortigia, facing the harbor and right next to the pedestrian street where you can lounge around and amble about at all hours of the day and evening. The hotel is an old palazzo, very beautiful and I will never... More

I'm sitting in a lovely room in shock. I've been checked into the hotel for only 2 hours and have been yelled at by reception for bringing a friend to the room for a drink. She threatened to call the police if my friend did not leave. I was then told my friend had to register with reception with a... More

Dear Guest, I have read your review, please allow me to explain the situation. As per our italian law we need to register all documents of people that enter in to a room. That was what the Receptionist on duty was try to explain, she never told that was going to call the police and she never did. She was... More

Pro... Local to everything, parking if you need it just over the road from hotel, there is a private beach which you have to take a boat trip to reach it cost 10 euros that is return, but you get boat trip and lounge chair and towels for the price. Breakfast is very good mixture of every kind of food.... More
