How anyone could fault this amazing hotel is beyond me. To say the pool area is in need of an upgrade- were you at the same place as I was? The staff are all exceptional, the rooms are gorgeous and extremely well appointed. I guess i must be a ‘peasant’ or something but I found our entire experience here absolutely delightful. My wife and I enjoyed three nights at the Rocco Forte Villa Igiea in April, 2023. I recommend the hotel. We had a Superior Suite with Terrace, upgraded from a standard Superior Suite. The absence of “sea view” in the name means we looked at the hillside across from the front of the hotel. It wasn’t quite the leafy experience I imagined, but it did give our large terrace morning shade. The terrace (which was right over the hotel’s porte cochere) was equipped with multiple umbrellas provide shaded seating in the afternoon. On the whole, I wasn’t sorry I opted for the cheaper non-sea view side, since the sea view, while nice, was somewhat obstructed by the gardens (and, to the right of the hotel, the view is Palermo’s industrial harbor). And, we had the view at breakfast and whenever we went to lounge on the sea side of the hotel. The suite was large – a very commodious living room with a sofa and two easy chairs, as well as a desk. There was ample storage in dressers in the living room. Connecting to the large bedroom was a hallway of closets – more than I can ever imagine using. So, awards to the Villa Igiea for supporting in-room storage (The Carlyle, in New York, should take note). And, lighting in the bedroom, hallway, bathroom, and living room was excellent. You could read in each and every sitting location. Hotel room designers in the US responsible for the current trend for dreary rooms should take note. The bathroom was large with a separate shower and tub. We had two sinks. Both the bedroom and living room had French doors out to our terrace. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows and linens at the luxury level. Our suite was quiet. Once I got the hang of the HVAC (you had to turn down the bedroom unit to much further than I’m used to in order to get the temperature I wanted), I was happy with the room temperature. Service outside of the breakfast restaurant was excellent across the board. The concierges, in particular, provided excellent advice and made arrangements swiftly. The only service hiccup was at our second breakfast, where my egg order somehow got lost. The waiter didn’t seem particularly interested in solving the problem, so I had to escalate. The breakfast buffet, was excellent, however. The hotel is well outside of the touristic part of Palermo. And the immediate neighborhood is uninviting. But, the hotel’s extensive grounds make the neighborhood a moot point. Free hourly shuttles are provided to take guests to the heart of Palermo, with returns on the half hour. The transfer service worked well for us. This is a delightful, well-managed, well-maintained hotel. I’d gladly come back. …

This was the best hotel experience we've ever stayed at (and we are fortunate to travel quite frequently). Every single person we interacted with at the hotel was lovely, friendly, kind, and helpful. The service was another level and you genuinely felt like everyone was doing whatever they could to help you. Our first surprise was getting a free upgrade upon check-in. The room was beautifully decorated, as expected. The amenities (gym, pool etc.) were excellent and you really didn't want to leave the hotel! Both restaurants were fabulous and good value considering the high quality of the food. The shuttle into Palermo was great and made it easy to get into town. I cannot recommend visiting this hotel enough. While expensive, you really feel that it is worth every $ you're paying and that's especially because of how wonderful the staff are. Also recommend joining the Rocco Forte Friends as there are lots of great perks that further enhance your experience. …

Maybe one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! We enjoyed every single detail of our room. The view was truly amazing. We were simply mesmerised by the vibrant colours of the garden and the ocean of course. Every staff member was very caring and easy approachable. GREAT SERVICE at the Reception and Concierge Area where a young elegant lady IRENE simply stands out. She was very sympathetic and helpful, member of the prestigious golden keys, a blessing for this hotel which thanks to her is not only a set of rooms in a historical building but a warm place with a spirit.

We stayed for two nights in September in a Sea View Superior Room. We didn't have a balcony but we did have a beautiful picture window out towards the sea. This gave us a stunning view onto the sunrise each morning over the sea. Our room was very comfortable. The high ceilings made it feel more spacious that the floor space would ordinarily feel. The welcome basket of fresh fruit in the room was a really nice touch. The hotel is located 2 kilometres outside Palermo old town. It is like coming back to an oasis of calm each night when you get back here. The hotel runs a regular shuttle. If you choose to get a taxi back later at night after the last shuttle has run (we did this after attending the opera) it will cost 30 Euro (and I recommend using cash with the local drivers at this time of night). The staff are all supremely professional and incredibly welcoming. The restaurants (we tried both the bar cafe and the dinner restaurant) were excellent. Sometimes five star large hotels can be bland and disappointing. Villa Igiea is not one of those places. It is an exceptional place to stay. When we return to Palermo, which we will do, we will definitely be staying here. …

I am delighted to let others know about our wonderful stay at Villa Igiea. This was our first stop when my wife and I recently visited Sicily for the first time. We felt so warmly welcomed and well treated at this gorgeous hotel. The staff is very professional and attentive, and the accommodations could not have been more comfortable. The patio/garden area is everything one hopes for in an outdoor Italian space, and we enjoyed a wonderful and very relaxed dinner one evening by the pool. The hotel bar deserves special mention, as it is one of the most beautiful and inviting hotel bars I have ever seen, anywhere. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again and will recommend it enthusiastically to anyone I know who is planning a trip to Palermo.

This spacious and lovely hotel is located on the outer edge of Palermo - a blessing with its gardens, pool and views over looking the Med and away from the city crowds, heat and noise. That being said, the city center and sights can be easily accessed by taxi and Uber. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms have all the amenities. Most importantly the staff are genuinely friendly, helpful and expeditious.

Fantastic views, wonderful accommodations, superb service and great, yummy food! This is the place to stay in Palermo! It is outside the hustle and bustle of Palermo, but it’s easy to get to the main center with their free shuttle. After visiting many sites and shops within the city for a few days, it was so nice to come back to the quiet beautiful grounds of Villa Igiea. Our friends stayed within the town and said it was noisy. We had a wonderful stay. The concierge staff even helped us find the little street where my grandfather lived as a boy. We ate at bother there restaurants and tried their cocktail bar…The restaurants Florio and Alicetta were the BEST meals we had on our entire trip!And their breakfast was wonderful as well. And the bar is in a spectacular setting with great cocktails! We were so blown away by the entire perfect package this hotel has to offer. Salute to the entire staff from the doormen to the front desk to the housekeepers. Loved, loved this place!…

“Luxury” doesn’t begin to describe the Villa Igiea. The building and grounds were gorgeous. Having morning breakfast or evening drinks on the patio with the unbelievably stunning view of the Mediterranean felt absolutely decadent. Our room had very modern features but was classically decorated. The staff were impeccably attentive and helpful. All spoke excellent English. Palermo city center is only a short shuttle ride away and it’s worth it to stay here.
