We stayed for 7 nights in this sumptuous, art nouveau style hotel. The staff are polished, professional, friendly and very helpful at all levels. The terrace restaurant has wonderful views over the city, but strangely offers a large sushi menu (in Italy?) in addition to local dishes. Some people may value that, but we would have prferred more of the latter.
We booked two nights at this magnificent hotel. The location for touring was perfect. The design with updated old work elegance was superb. The windows were soundproof. The room from the flooring, moldings, fixtures. lighting, bedding were exquisite. The welcome sweets with a note was as well. The bathroom was perfectly functional and the large tub was welcomed after a long day of touring. The towels were fluffy. Lots of closet space. I can't imagine anyone not giving this 5 star. The breakfast had lots of choices and everything was delicious. The room was elegant. The service was even better than the beauty of the hotel. A special shout out to Valeria who helped me set up my day but also found a lost diamond earring and sent it to me. We will return and recommend this exquisite spot.…
Magnificent hotel in a great area of Palermo. Politeama area. Friendly staff very helpful and always ready to assist you. Filipo, the barman made the best Cosmpolitan ever. The rooms are comfortable with beautiful decor and have great views. Highly recommended
The Hotel et Des Palmes has an indeed grand past. However it has been beautifully updated and refurbished. The public rooms are very grand. the breakfast buffet is extensive and served in a very elegant room. Service throughout the hotel is efficient and friendly. Our room had great windows overlooking Via Roma. The room itself was interestingly decorated in a minimalist way but still with lots of character. The bathroom was very serviceable. The only drawback is that the hotel is located slightly out of the most historic area of the old city. But still with easy walking to restaurants and cafes.
We wanted to give this place a 5-star review, not because the rooms were amazing (don’t get me wrong — they were definitely fine), but primarily because of the attentiveness of the staff. They arranged our COVID-19 PCR tests and, when one of our family members tested positive (as it turned out, a false positive), the staff went into overdrive on a Friday evening to help us find a different doctor. We really appreciated their care and attention, not to mention their successful efforts.
its an old old ,well refurbished in a decent location. the staff is very good and our check in was super. the breakfast was good. the rooms are well appointed and everything worked. the bathrooms were on the small side
Stayed for 2 nights during Easter week. The hotel itself is nice looking and the rooms are small but comfortable. This is where it ends. Let's begin with the front desk staff... During the arrival, the two attendants were talking to each other and continued to do so for 5 minutes while I was standing waiting to check-in. They struggle with the English language, both to understand you and also to communicate back. Luckily, I speak Italian so I was able to quickly switch it in order for things to run smoother. Once settled, we decided to go to the hotel restaurant to have lunch. What a disaster! Firstly, they were cleaning the tables at 1pm, vacuuming and continued to do so as we sat at our table. Then, I ordered a green salad with tuna, what I received was old lettuce, not yet ripened tomatoes, and pieces of tuna. The best way I can describe it is that if you ever find yourself with a head of lettuce, a tomato, and tuna in your refrigerator, with no way of getting any other food, this is what you would toss together. I had to ask for oil and condiments and then the condiments were not left on the table, but taken away. The waitress had no idea how to serve and the barman or supervisor was too busy talking to his colleagues who came in to have a coffee. THIS IS NOT THE RESTAURANT QUALITY OF A 5 STAR HOTEL. Let's get to the "included" breakfast.... some old pastries, cheese, watery scrambled eggs and juices from a bottle. Not only was it awful, but the service was atrocious. It took 30 minutes to receive a cappuccino. But that's not the worst part, again, people that work in the hotel were seating at the bar, right in front of the pastry dish, talking and having coffee, were guests had to excuse themselves in order to reach the pastries. Guests wearing masks to serve themselves but workers basically spitting on the trays. Save yourself the trouble, if you're looking for a real 5 star hotel while in Palermo, this is not it.…
Beautifully restored gem from a different era. Excellent location right in one of main streets in town, minutes walk from the historic city center, a block below tens upon tens of restaurants on one of many pedestrian streets. Everything is nearby and easily walkable. As others have said, the staff is wonderful and seems genuinely happy to be working there - Bruno at the front, stopped what he was doing to give the history of the place and the restoration efforts that went into it, just because he caught me admiring the ceilings. The bar is fantastic. As is the restaurant, and breakfast. Rooms are generous in size and the bathrooms are knockouts. Worth the money.
This is the best hotel in Palermo! Incredible service, the staff was soooo helpful and kind regarding activities and where to eat, just above and beyond service in every way. Valet parking was so fast snd wonderful, their breakfast buffet was amazinggg truly delicious and our room was phenomenal. Extremely comfortable beds and luxe bath, such a perfect spot to explore Sicily from and get some good rest. Highly recommend this to anyone staying in Palermo, also the location was perfect to walk to all of the beautiful spots and close to sooo much delicious food. Don’t miss this gem! Also they have an amazing bar with spectacular cocktails.
We visited Palermo from January 22-27 2022 and stayed at the Grand Hotel et Des Palmes. The hotel is beautiful integrating its history with modern amenities. The mixology bar and restaurant food and drinks were exceptional. We would especially commend the chief mixologist, sommelier Michal, and the front desk of Bruno and Alessandro. Definitely the place to stay in Palermo.
