Cagliari is not of the most famous towns in Italy. Despite many travels to Sardinia, we had never been there. We had a business meeting yesterday so we decided to try Palazzo Doglio. If this place was in a touristic town, the rates would be much higher but, at the moment, they are surprisingly affordable. The palazzo is splendid, bright and luxurious. The location is a bit “in the middle of nowhere” but it’s just at 10 minutes walk from the Centre and, once all the restaurants in their courtyard will be open, the place will be a destination in itself. Unfortunately due to Covid rules the spa was closed. But it looked beautiful. The “hard” is definitely a Leading Hotel. Some details of the “soft” have to be improved but it’s true that this difficult period affects everything (reception not super outgoing and also always in their mobiles, no one use your name, no one has escorted us to the room neither explained the hotel service - they will sell them better - , no turndown - but for the rates that’s understandable -, the food in the restaurant was ok but not wow). Andrea the Maitre d’ is a star and he really made our stay: proud of the place and it shows! We would go back!

Dear enricoluca, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and were especially pleased with the service of our restaurant’s Maître, Andrea. I have shared your kind words with him and can tell you, both him and the entire team are very eager to welcome you back again next time you decide to stop by Cagliari! I have looked into your stay internally and can assure you that our staff addressed you by your name and introduced the hotel to you. There is a chance however that staff who haven’t checked you in weren’t able to recognize you in the first encounter. Thank you for being very understanding of how the current period affects the hospitality sector, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon! Best wishes! Dino Mitidieri General Manager

The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and courteous. They were able to arrange many excursions, but sadly due to the weather, they were cancelled, but they found alternatives. There is no Porter outside of the hotel, so if you have heavy luggage, you’re on your own. The spa is exceptional. They have a heated jacuzzi pool and spotlessly clean. Massages and treatments are reasonably priced and done very well. The prestige rooms have a fantastic view over the courtyard, and are finished to a high standard. However, there are ashtrays outside for smoking. Room service was remarkably fast and efficient. The bar is excellent but quite empty before 9pm. The food at the gourmet restaurant was slightly disappointing. Fish tartare was a bit too subtle and simple to be tasty. The menu does feature a dish inherited from Heinz Beck: torteli al carbonara and this is highly recommended.

The Palazzo Doglio is probably the worst place my friend and I have stayed. Their customer service is poor, the staff are unfriendly, inefficient and not helpful at all. For the price the Palazzo Doglio charges, it certainly does not live up to its standards. None of their staff had the initiative to help my friend and I with our order, I think staff members should go their way out to help hotel guests - that’s the least they can do ESPECIALLY for the prices they are charging! This is a classic example of poor customer service with ZERO initiative from any staff member. Seriously, their staff should be much better trained to handle guests. Totally not worth it. Expensive. Lousy experience. I will not recommend this place to my friends and family. Horrible customer service.
