Superby positioned on a rocky headland almost surrounded by the sea. Excellent staff. small but lovely bedrooms with stunning sea views (if you get the right rooms). Nice indoor & outdoor pools, decent food, old world service. Within walking distance of town centre. Not a great deal to see or do in Alghero, but a relaxing break at Las Tronas...

Really love this hotel, - and this was our 3rd time staying here. It was been several years since we were last here, and the indoor pool & spa is a welcome addition (especially when the weather isn’t warm enough for the outdoor pool). What we like about this hotel is…. A) Small (I think family run) hotel, with a...

I planned a week's birthday treat for my wife over her birth week in November. Out of season and a bit of a risk (the holiday, not the wife!). But what a result! I can't recommend this hotel highly enough - and I travel a lot. The staff were wonderful, the setting is as stunning as depicted on the web...

Very nicely situated hotel with a lot of old charm and character. Recommend rooms with terrace and fantastic sea-view. You can also have breakfast on your own terrace (free of charge). Breakfast is continental, but it is possible to order side dishes, such as egg and bacon. Staff is very friendly and attentive! Internet in the room was slow, but...

Arriving in Alghero, by car, we drove past the tower of the old city and along the seafront and there it was - Villa Las Tronas, majestic in its isolation on its own little headland. There were two sets of wrought iron gates and sensibly we went to the ones that had a bell outside. The gates swung open and...

I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. From the moment we arrived to the morning we left (three-night stay), we felt like royalty in this beautiful, historic property. The service was old-school impeccable; you really felt like the staff cared about you and would do anything to make your stay as wonderful as possible. It's an easy walk...

Just returned from Alghero, had a wonderful relaxing stay in Villa las Tronas, which was a beautifully situated hotel on the sea, a walkway from the mediaeval beautiful walled city of Alghero. Staff were genuinely friendly and informatively helpful, room was spacious and kept beautifully clean by maids, food was delicious, especially our evening prosecco and canapés! Access to snorkelling...

Disaappointed with lack of services; breakfast coffee was terrible. Room nice, but hotel is more of a 3 star and not 5 star. We had to carry our bags when we checked in. The two staff members at the desk were very helpful. Hotel was way over priced for the value. No one at the pool to help with umbrellas...

A 19th century Palace on the seafront. Built in 1880 and converted to a hotel in 1959, it attracted glamorous clientele (Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor) It is an exceptionally romantic hotel, with a mixture of old world elegance and easy going contemporary style of hospitality. You can swim in the sea or the salt swimming pool. Food is good....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Villa Las Tronas is the delightful 5-star hotel that has become the symbol of Alghero - “the Golden Door to tourism in Sardinia” - situated on the Riviera del Corallo on the north-west coast of the Island. The hotel rises from the sea-shore with its Spa, nestled in the greenery of nearly two hectares of park that separate it from the Alghero waterfront, on a headland surrounded on three sides by the crystal-clear water of the bay. Numerous quays invite you to sunbathe and swim in the most comfortable, private way. The view is spectacular and the atmosphere so intense and romantic as to steal the hearts of Italian Royalty, who chose the Villa up to the nineteen-forties for their holidays in Sardinia. The bar and panoramic restaurant are the ideal place to relax, while your gaze takes in the Bay of Alghero and rediscovers the timeless luxuriousness inherent in the unique features and character of the villa. The Hotel and the Spa – with its covered sea-water swimming-pool (also looking out over the Mediterranean), sauna, Turkish bath, Kneipp walkway, gym and the beauty area – are open all through the year. ... more   less
