This is a very lovely family run B&B. Nice facilities and perfect location for a taste of the real local life and to enjoy Venice attractions. It's a family run place and the hosts are really nice and helpful. Highly recommended.
My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Casa Baseggio at the beginning of May. This B&B is in a great location in a quiet part of the city although there are lots of bars, shops and restaurants in the area.
The B&B itself...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

It was nearly a year ago when we went, so afraid I can't remember the details. We walked out of the train station in Venice and the canal was facing us. The public boat station was just to our right and we had just one boat trip and then a short walk to the b and b. It was easy, but I cannot remember the names of the boat stations now. If you e-mail the b and b, or go to their website there are very easy to follow directions. It only took about 15 minutes. We were nearly there when the man from the b and b was coming to meet us. They were lovely people and the b and b was superb - so peaceful, but a short walk for all the sights. As I say - e-mail them for directions or go to their web site. Enjoy!
