The Ca Alvise is a quaint hotel in a quieter part of Venice, but very close to both St Marks and Rialto Bridge. They are a bit outdated and do not have elevators so if you can't walk 1-3 three flights of stairs to your room everyday don't stay here. Other than that, we quite enjoyed our stay and the... More

Firstly Venice is a maze. To reach this hotel take the orange line vaporetto from the airport & get off at San Angelo. About a 5 min walk will take you to hotel. Use a map! Hotel is a smallish boutique hotel, based on an operatic theme, very close to Opera House. It is within walking distance of St Marks... More

Quiet hotel, whose location is excellent. The hotel offers good facilities for families. The room has enough space and the bathroom is functional. Distance from the main attractions is a short, but the hotel is in a quiet environment

This is a beautiful and centric hotel. It's a bit difficult find, becasue the streets from venice are thin and complicated. The rooms are very spacious, and cleen. The breakfast are good, with a tipycal muffins from venice.

This was a small, friendly and beautifully decorated hotel, clean and had everything we needed. Air conditioning worked very well and was greatly appreciated after a day of walking. The breakfast room was also lavishly decorated and cosy and my Mum and I were happy with the quality of the breakfast, the only thing were the eggs..sometimes hot and delicious,... More

Not overly impressed for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was average. They recommended a restaurant that was the lowest rated one in the area with very high prices and $16euro cover charge. Paid the most for the worst meal I've eaten in 2 weeks in Italy. They gave me a map with a giant logo right in the middle so... More

The hotel was nice, clean, spacious and decorated with a European touch. Most Europeans bathroom are so tiny it's tough to change your mind. The bathroom in this hotel had a huge bath tub and a nice shower head. The staff was very helpful and gave us great tips for eating out and attractions nearby. I highly recommend this hotel... More

The hotel was decent and the breakfast was ok. We stayed there 2 nights. We used a private water taxi that took us right next to the hotel. The staff were friendly. They helped us carry the luggage upstairs as there was no elevator. Lots of places around to eat. The front desk recommended a restaurant near the opera. DO... More

For what we paid the price of the room it was fantastic. The breakfast was average but lots of selection, croissants, cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, bread rolls and some scrambled eggs and hot dog sausages. We didn't have a view but the hotel is so well located and clean, the bathroom had a big Jacuzzi bath. I read other reviews... More

As location it is midway between Rialto and San Marco and for that it`s very convenient . Most rooms are nice with real Venetian glass decoration but you can get something much more plain so you should check . Also no elevator - the flight of stairs might be a problem for some . 24 hours deck , pretty good... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
