It is a wonderful place to stay in Venice: great location (1 minute walk from St. Marco square), friendly hosts, very comfortable and cozy rooms, clean bathroom, wi-fi, good breakfast (tasty coffee, meat, cheese and croissants!). Very good value for the price! The hosts also have a wonderful restaurant at the ground floor - the restaurant and the entrance to... More

Excellent place to stay. Location was perfect - 2 minute walk from St Marks Square and a 5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge.. Bedrooms are well appointed with typically Venetian decor and private bathroom/jacuzzi. Easy to find - get off the water bus at St Marks, cross the square immediately in front of St Marks Basilica, heading for the... More

Good place to stay. Really good localization, good breakfast with fantastic expresso and cappuccino. Good service and good bedrooms. Even that is only 200m away from Piazza S. Marco is quite calm, so we had no problems to sleep at night. If we will come back to Venice we will try to stay here again.

Firstly to find the hotel is a little bit difficult, But it is venice finding anything is difficult it is so easy to get lost! When we found the hotel, we were left outside for several minutes before a waiter from a restaurant next door (lucky we walked through, when a local was showing us directions to the hotel) came... This place isn't easy to find. Its front door fronts a courtyard and not a via. Best to locate this hotel at home on a map before going to Venice to avoid asking locals for directions. The hotel is in very good condition. Marble everywhere. Card access to rooms and the front door. All modern appliances. Our bathroom was clean... More

We rented two rooms for a two night stay. When we arrived at 4:00 in the afternoon we waited for 4-5 minutes outside before someone came and took us up to our rooms. We kept wondering if we had found the right hotel. This person came from the kitchen, did not say hello but merely took us up the stairs... More

The hotel is clean and has a perfect location as it is three blocks from piazza San Marco. However our room was really small (we almost had no place for two big bags and one carry-on) though the bathroom was big (but not the shower area.... Amazing). Breakfast is very simple and you only have one hour time: from 8:30... More

Is a bit hard to find as it is above a restaurant and the entrance is behind, off the street, in a little quiet area. Once located, really liked the location and the accommodations. Does require negotiating stairs. Our air conditioner didn't work the first night - bummer. Once we overcame the language barrier with the staff they had it... More

I liked this hotel very much due to: perfect location, nice rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff. Breakfast was included and also free Wifi. Nearby you can find many good restaurants and also shops .

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
