My husband and I stayed in Venice at the Palazzo Stern Hotel for one night, during our trip to Lake Garda in August 2012, as a 1st wedding anniversary treat. Our whole experience of Venice was fantastic, including our stay at this charming hotel. We caught the train from Desenzano Del Garda and were in Venice in an hour and...

We stayed here for two nights at the end of July before joining the Star Clipper. From the moment we entered the hotel we new it was going to be perfect and we were not disappointed. The check in was efficient and friendly with a cool welcoming drink. We arrived quite early so our room was not ready but this...

I stayed here just a week ago with my fiancé and had a fabulous time. The hotel is very conveniently situated right on the Grand Canal at one of the vaporetto stops - Ca'Rezzonico - meaning it was very easy to locate when coming from the airport and easy to get to the train station (approx. 25 mins by vaporetto)....

My wife and I arrived from Marco Polo airport by Alilaguna, and were dropped directly in front of the Palazzo Stern. Could not have been more convenient. The staff at the hotel were very, very welcoming. We had their best room, second floor, in the center, with balcony, overlooking the Grand Canal. The price was fair for such an amazing...

We have never posted a review on TripAdvisor before but chose the hotel after reading the reviews on here so we thought it only fair to add our review. We stayed at the hotel in July 2012. In short it was perfect. The location is extremely convenient (right by a vaparetto stop which is also handy if arriving via Alilaguna...

We really enjoyed the quality and professinalism of this hotel. Our room on the second floor was extremely spacious with supremely comfortable beds and a splendid bathroom.Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal was a delight. The only small criticism was that service for breakfast was a bit pushed on one of our mornings - items such as bacon and croissants...

Our 5 nights in July were great - service is excellent. Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
