Can’t beat arriving at your hotel by boat to their private dock. Well placed for Vaporetto too. Very warm welcome and room with a view of the grand Canal as expected. A wonderful view though! Good part of the city to be based in. Quiet, busy and famous areas all nearby. Room well air conditioned with a comfortable bed and... More

The hotel is very well located on the Grand Canal, immediately by the Ca'Rezzonico vaporetto stop. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, and this high standard of polite, willing and pleasant service was maintained throughout our stay. Our room was comfortable and warm (essential in January!) and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the breakfasts and a drink in the... More

Great place for stay in Venezia! Perfect mixture of a very traditional Palazzo and people they like to to there best for the guest! We had really wonderful days in Venezia. Palazzo Stern was the best place to discover the city of Venezia. When ever we come back, Palazzo Stern is our place.

Where do I start...Palazzo Stern was just fabulous! First location, can you get any better than on the Grand Canal next to the water taxi stop, unreal convenient especially when you watch so many people being tortured by dragging their luggage through the streets. The staff was SO wonderful, especially the young girl at reception (sorry forgot her name) she... More

The best place to stay in Venice, whatever time of the year. We will return. Venice is a romantic place and this hotel is the height and depth of romance. On the Grand Canal and right next to a vaporetto stop. Great breakfast, drinks in an amazingly beautiful bar...

We stayed at the Palazzo Stern which is on the Grand Canal seconds away from the Ca Rezzonico stop on Line 1 water bus route. The hotel is stunning and is furnished with fine antiques, stunning Murano glass pieces and the finest Murano chandeliers. The bedrooms are extremely well equipped and boast Villeroy and Boch spa bath tubs. A fine... More

This building has been in existence since the 15th century, but was recently restored. So it has all of the original touches with the modern amenities expected of a 5 star hotel. Very helpful concierge and beautiful bar and outside sitting area. The rooms are spacious, and suites are available.

We stayed one night in wonderful Palazzo Stern. The building is magnificent (5*) however our rooms (3rd floor) were more 3* like: no views, unaccessible window in the roof, and with a small bed (150 cm). It is a pitty as the room was big enough to accomodate a 180cm wide bed that would really be a big plus. On... More

Between us, we have visited Venice well over fifty times. We both agreed that this hotel offered many advantages, from location, to perfect service, to good (enough) breakfast, to very well maintained rooms in perfect condition, to excellent maid service, linen recylcing, courteous barman, cheerful and helpful front desk managers. We couldn't find a negative! We'll return without hesitation.

I chose this hotel because of the good reviews it had on Tripadvisor. The reality surpassed our expectations. For a start, it is right next to the Alilaguna stop at Ca'Rezzonico, so you can take the airport boat and it drops your right at the hotel door.At the same stop you have the vaporetto. The hotel is right at the Canal... Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
