My 10-year-old kid and I were at this wonderful place for our second time. We enjoyed again the excellence of Palazzo Stern, the room with balcony, the delightful breakfast and the very warm, professional and kind service.

THANK YOU HOTEL PALAZZO STERN for making my stay one of the most enjoyable city breaks EVER... The hotel is beautifully and really stands out from the rest with it's architecture, upkeep, terrace and location. I arrived in the evening and it stood out from the water with it being alight so tastefully. Another reason it standout is that it...

Very comfortable room, with a very nice, spacious bathroom. Best shower we experienced during our visit to Italy this year. Breakfast catered to a diverse clientele. Ham, cheese and yogurt for the Northern Europeans, cornetto's and cappuccino for the Italians, fruit, eggs and bacon for the Americans. The private courtyard is wonderful. The bar was good though not very busy....

We spent five nights in a junior suite and were very happy with the hotel. The location is terrific -- very close to Gallerie dell'Accademia, and walking distance or a quick vaporetto ride to Piazza San Marco or the Rialto. Campo San Barnaba, just down the alley from the hotel, is delightful. The hotel is beautiful and very well maintained....

My wife and I wanted our once-in-a-lifetime stay in Venice to be special, so we reserved a Junior Suite with a Grand Canal view at the Palazzo Stern Hotel. It is located in the Dorsoduro near the Ca’ Rezzonico with its vaporetto stop adjacent to the entrance and not far from the Accademia Bridge connecting the San Marco. We took...

This is a beautiful hotel. It is on the grand canal and even without views, our room was perfect. We had a standard triple room with a separate area upstairs and a bed downstairs. My son is over 6ft but the sofa bed was big enough. The bathroom was beautifully tiled and large. The furnishings were very good quality. The...

What a wonderful hotel. Fantastic location next to the Vaporetto, luxury room in the traditional Venetian style. Warm and very comfortable. Silver cutlery at breakfast was a nice touch. We arrived in style on the hotel boat from P.le Roma and they handled our delayed flight seemingly effortlessly. The team very thoughtfully presented my husband a bottle of Prosecco for...

We booked months in advance for a junior suite overlooking the canal so it wasn't that cheap. We have been here two days and the room is freezing! The air conditioner doesn't work properly, in 8 hours it has gone from 18.8 to 19.2 and the manager has refused to move rooms or even believe us at first, we took...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
