Very well located place. Interesting building. Room is large and everything clean, furniture basic. The owner/manager very friendly and helpful. They stored our luggage after check out while we had to wait for our flight. Staff member unfortunately very rude to us when we went back to get warmer clothes.

I read the reviews, and if you are in doubt staying don't be. This is a elegant building with proper Venetian qualities with all its quirks. You are pretty central to everything and the area for food is cheaper before moving more central and more expensive places. Al prosecco is a must and for friendly bar staff and exceptionally well...

We had spent a week in Venice in a lovely apartment in Dorsoduro but one of my sons had missed part of the week and wanted more time in Venice. So, from the Dolomites I had the task of finding last minute accommodations for the four of us. Of the reasonably priced places I found this seemed the best in...

Price for 2 nights around 130€ was good! But the quality of accomodation- no words! Nobody like to stay in a room WITHOUT BATHROOM even for this price in Venice. And make 10 times tours outside of room to go to wash hand, brush teeth and etc . For sure I will not recommend to anyone to stay here .

Ok, so my partner made several mistakes (1) booking with Booking.com whom I have had problems before with in the UK when booking hotels - I never feel comfortable booking with them (2) booking a room and not reading the small print i.e. not ensuite. The room was very clean, although we were surprised that the duvet did not have...

I should have paid more attention to the multiple reviews here from people who found themselves roomless in Venice. But, like a lot of others, I thought, "It'll never happen to me." Wrong. I booked a room at this hotel three months before our trip. Then 24 hours before we were due to leave, I had a phone call from...

Warm friendly welcome from the reception staff. Good facilities in the room, modest, no frills accommodation at a very reasonable price. Located in a historic building it has its quirks but well worth it. Only thing are the steps to get into the place are very old and uneven so if you have mobility issues that may be a concern....

Its a small, family type hotel with a good location, very close to the water bus station. The rooms are clean, not small, the bathroom also not small, but you should definitely have your own soap and shampoo. Wi-fi was not working in the room, it was bit far from the reception. Breakfast served in the room always on time....

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
