Had a great stay in one of the smaller rooms. Good space but not massive which is normal in Venice. Amazing location within walking of San Marco, Rialto so very central. Lovely people although breakfast area a bit close for comfort when full. Only critique is that toiletries were not replenished each day and shower curtain really needed a new... More

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Casa Petrarca. We stayed in Room 6 which does have an en suite bath but no view of the canal. Although the room was small it was clean and comfortable. It was a short walk to St. Mark's Square and was priced reasonably for the location. Breakfast was nothing to get excited... More

This was a very convenient spot for exploring the city. My daughter and I enjoyed the breakfast offerings each morning in the sunny dining area. She loved that the kitchen always smelled like fresh berries of some sort. Valentina was a big help securing dinner reservations and recommendations for us. Stefano was nice as well, but he was rarely around.... More

Stayed 4 nights - room small but adequate, comfortable and generally quiet. We arrived late after taking the water bus from the airport, but had received good instructions for accessing the hotel and found a welcoming note with everything we needed at reception. Valentina was very helpful next morning, after a good breakfast recommending places to eat later - away... More

We loved the personal touch that Valentina in particular offers. Having either Valentina or Stephan available throughout the day to help in planning, dining, transportation, or whatever comes up was just wonderful. There are not many rooms, so it feels very personal - almost like visiting friends who really want you to have a great time and care about your... More

Clean rooms, great location and easy to find as they email you exactly how to get there from rialto bridge. We were sharing the bathroom but never saw anyone else in there, never had to wait. A bit disappointed with breakfast and the choice, not much left on some occasions...

This will be short and sweet as I only have good things to say - nightmare to find the place but as with everywhere in Venice once you know where it is its easy to get back to! Room - gorgeous, we had a fantastic view of a canal and street. The breakfast was your standard Italian continental offering, but... More

I am in two minds about this accommodation. Firstly the good. The room that we had was very good. It was a good size and very light. Privacy was provided by some external shutters. The location was also very good. It was easy to access from the Rialto vaporetto and close to the San Marco square. Secondly, the not so... More

Perfectly situated between St Marks Square and Rialto. More importantly easy to find!! Free WiFi. Continental breakfast. Quiet spot with canal views. Very helpful and friendly staff. We were given a map and advice on places to go and restaurants etc. Highly recommended. Thank you

Myself and my fiancé travelled to Venice and stayed here before boarding a cruise and we were really impressed for the price we paid with what we received. The main outstanding feature of this hotel has to be the location, situated a 3min walk from St Marks square and the grand canal, and for the price, we really could not... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
