Stayed three nights and truly loved it. The owner takes pride in her B&B and it was a marvelous place to stay in the heart of Venice. The only thing is it's up three floors of stairs so for us it was a workout getting our big heavy bags to the top but they do have a locked storage closest...

We visited this hotel at the end of August 2016 The centrally located cosy B&B around the corner from the Rialto Bridge is tucked in down a little laneway (recognizable by a wide wooden door) up on the 3rd floor of an older well-kept building without a lift; the directions given upon booking are easy to follow. The vaporetto taxi...

This bed and breakfast is so perfect. I'm feeling i am at home. So cozy and clean. Suzanna and her staff are very kind. The location could't be better: close to Rialto bridge and super easy to leave and back many times you want during the day. I loved it and I will recommend for sure! Anne Brazil

Casa Gottardi is amazing! It's in the center of it all, very close to the Rialto Bridge, and very convenient to get to using public transportation. What makes Casa Gottardi special is the staff, they are amazing. Susanna and her family and her staff were all so kind to me and my five friends who stayed at Casa Gottardi during...

A great B&B really close to the Rialto bridge close to the main tourist places to visit and central to explore all the other districts. The B&B is like a home from home with a large, clean, well-decorated room with private bathroom and air-conditioning. The breakfast was excellent and there is also use of a kitchen which is well-stocked with...

All the great reviews about Casa Gottardi are true. We stayed as a family for our daughter's wedding in Venice in July (2015). Susannah and Eugenia were great hosts and we were made to feel very welcome - a real home from home. A really nice breakfast was served every morning on a tray and this was so relaxing. The...

The location of this contemporary Venetian style hotel (Canaregio) is perfect, the rooms have a nice Venetian look and feel (they have familly rooms available), the breakfast is extremely good (taking in account the quite minimalistic Italian standard), limonade, water and coffee are complemetary (both in the rooms and in the lobby during day time) and to top all that,...

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was lovely and clean. Nice breakfast. Bit of a smell from shower drain but nothing opening the windows didn't fix. There's lots of stairs but they will help you with luggage up or down and if you need to store luggage they will let you leave downstairs in storage room. The location...

Wonderful experience! So worth the extra money. We stayed in Venice for 3 nights in July, travelled as a family (2 adults + 2 small children). We had a room with private bathroom, 1 large bed, and 1 bunk bed. Casa Gottardi was perfect, our room beautiful, and tastefully decorated; there was a kitchen we could use, and Susanna brought...

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

“There are tradeoffs: Two of the three rooms have a large bed plus a bunk bed and a connected bathroom. The third room has a king bed only, its bathroom is across the hall, and the decor seemed a bit more stylist. All rooms face the front "street." As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no common area in the B&B, so you will be served breakfast in your room.”
