We stayed here for two nights in Nov2010 and couldn't have been happier. This hotel has a great central location in Venice to allow walking to most areas. The rooms are very nice and well decorated. We were most impressed with the warmth of the...More
What a fantastic little place. We loved staying here. Venice was our final stop in Italy and we couldn't have picked a better city or a better hotel to end our travels.

Hotel located close and convenient to the San Marco plaza and vaporetto stop. On a quiet back walk and canal. Very stylish interior, courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Off the hotel main lobby is a canal platform for gondola pickup. Bedroom and bathroom was smallish,...More
We recently spent 5 nights at the Hotel Becher in Venice and all thought it was a good choice. We had visited Venice before but my sister, who travelled with us, had not. We were given a warm welcome at the Becher and the staff...More
Hotel Becher sits right along the path that the gondoliers take with their passengers. They have a wonderful little dock with two bistro tables. Pick up a lunch to go and a bottle of wine and sit on their little dock and have lunch and...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

We took a water taxi from the airport to the hotel organised by the hotel. It was very easy, not to mention a lovely way to first experience Venice, as the taxis leave from the airport (signs in airport) and you are delivered right to the landing at the hotel. I did take the water bus back from the airport having dropped my family there as I had a few more day's work to do. The waterbus takes it time!
