We spent 3 nights in this wonderful hotel with my husband this September. Imagine it was our first trip, just him and me, after three years doing every single trip with our three year old daughter.. Which is nice, but different-). Sp, we really carried about this journey to be something romantic and special.. And it was! The hotel is...

Anna, the hotel manager was most pleasant and accommodating. We had read somewhere, perhaps on TripAdvisor, that Hotel Becher is a three-star hotel, striving to be a four-star hotel. We were not disappointed in any way. Anna was very helpful, spoke good English and we could tell that service and guest satisfaction were her top priority. My husband and I...

Hotel Becher is one of the most expensive three-star hotels in Venice. This is because it is, emphatically, worth every penny. The hotel is conveniently located for all the sights of the city, staffed by warm, friendly and approachable staff who are happy to talk and share their knowledge of the city with you without being in any way pushy...

After reading many Trip Advisor reviews I selected the Hotel Becher for our visit to Venice-I was not disappointed. The hotel actually has its own dock so we arrived by boat taxi. It's easy to arrange from the airport-it cost 200 euros for roundtrip. We actually booked our retun trip at the airport and they showed up at the hotel...

My wife and I spent four days of our honeymoon at Hotel Becher in August 2009. We had booked a room and requested a canal view. On arrival we were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite with a balcony, a lovely gesture which really set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel's location is ideal for wandering around...

Stayed with our 2 kids in room 301 - decent size (kids beds in the same room as us). Stylish and traditional. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Ideally sited. Water Taxi to the airport booked at our request and worked perfectly. Breakfast ok - if area slightly small. I think this place represents pretty decent value for Venice. Any one...

I booked this hotel based upon many reviews from Tripadvisor. We needed accomodations that would fit the whole family into one room. We had a junior suite over looking the canal with balcony. Good size room. Bathroom was nice and clean. Just a side note, beds were horribly hard but that must be an Italian thing because our bed in...

My wife and I found this on TripAdvisor - exceeded our expectations. We arrived by water taxi right to the hotel landing - how romantic. Great location in San Marco - only two years old. The staff -Eleanora, Anna, and Paulo - was professional and genuinely friendly, and even provided us with maps and directions. Breakfast was a fine selection...

Just back, today, from a week's stay at this lovely hotel. We chose it based on the reviews about the niceness of the staff - and we weren't disappointed! Other than just generally being charming, helpful and chatty, they went 'above and beyond' when it came to helping my partner organise flowers, prosecco and breakfast in bed on the morning...

Centrally located, but on a quiet side street, and next to a gorgeous quiet canal, Anna noted that it was a special occasion and gave us a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the canal. The room was small but comfortable and while hotels in Venice are expensive, this seemed reasonable in comparison to other hotels I researched. The breakfast...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
