Excellent location, close to St marks square and the Grand Canal. Close to restaurants and bars. The staff were polite and helpful and were happy to arrange taxi's and provide information on the surrounding area. Breakfast was traditional european buffet which was plentiful. Only negative point is that the decor is a little tired although comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here over Easter (25th - 28th March 16). Our room was gorgeous with a brilliant view of the canal. The receptionist was very friendly and staff couldn't have been more helpful, one of the guys at the front desk let us borrow his own personal charger to charge our phones as we forgot our travel... Friendly staff when you come in. Clean rooms. Some things in our room didn't work properly, but since were not too picky we could manage it. We had two bathrooms and one of the showers didn't have a shower door. We could still manage, it was my son that could use our shower. Overall very good, quiet atmosphere. Close by... More

This hotel is in a very convenient location, just a short walk from San Marco and 10 minutes away from Dorsoduro across the Accademia Bridge (would recommend this area for some quieter, authentic restaurants which don't carry the San Marco price tags!). We had a standard double, room 12, which wasn't huge but perfectly pleasant with double windows across the... More

I stayed at the Hotel Dei Dragomanni in Venice with my husband for 3 days in March 2016. The best thing about the hotel was the location. It is just minutes away from st marks square and very close to the Accademia waterbus stop. The hotel was clean but the beds weren't that comfortable and the rooms were very basic.... More

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's right in the center of everything with the furthest walk was 15 mins given that I am a slow walker. However, it's breakfast is quite simple without a lot of options and their coffee is quite horrid. I would recommend this hotel for a weekend break only.

The location of this hotel is great. Within walking distance of most of what Venice has to offer in the San Marco area, but just far enough away from the busy crowded areas. Getting to the hotel is only a 3 min walk from the 'Santa maria del Giglio' water bus stop. (€ 27 return from Marco Polo Airport) Our... More

This hotel is in a very good location, about 7 minutes, very well sign posted walk to the Academia and about 8/9 minutes walk [again very well signposted] to St Marks Square, and from there about a 10 minute, very well signposted walk to the Rialto bridge and area. By the way I walk quite slow!. A Water Taxi will... More

We arrived by water taxi and only had a few feet to walk from the drop off to the front door. Great access ! The hotel arranged for our pick up from and to the airport, great service! Complimentary breakfast buffet was tremendous! We were able to take it back to our room where we had a beautiful canal view... More

We have just returned from a long weekend in Venice, Thursday-Sunday, 10-13 March, staying at the Dei Dragomanni. I emailed before we went for directions to the hotel. We got the orange Alilaguna line from the airport to SM del Giglio. From there it was less than 3 minutes to the hotel. When you get off the boat, head straight... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
