When you book this hotel you have to be aware of its star rating - 1. So if you are used to the quality of 3/4 star hotels it's probably not your kind of lodgings. We were prepared for this and were pleasantly surprised. The room we had overlooked the canal and you could watch the boats going pass or...

We stayed here for two nights. The staff is really sweet and helpful, and even though the hotel is "only" 1 star you get a lot value for your money. We even got a room with view to the channel. We will be back again for sure.

As other reviewer mentioned, it seemed to be difficult to find at first. But found out the location was good and the staff were very kind. Before coming to this hotel, we were in another city and my husband felt sick. We chose a room with shared bathroom first by mistake and before coming here I checked the room availability and...

In a tight spot having left the horrible apartment we'd booked, we found this one star place and it was great. Our room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was nothing special but it was clean which is more than I can say about the place we scarpered from. Friendly, helpful service, the best (and only, in Italy at least)...

Difficult to find at first, but great location nearby St. Marks square, the Arsenale, restaurants, and overlooks a canal. Great balcony over the canal where you can watch the boats navigate their way in and out of their slips. Nice breakfast and very friendly staff.

Perfect for visiting Venice for a couple of days, friendly staff and a nice breakfast ☺ Run the water as it takes a while to warm up! When visiting Venice take as small as case as possible as it's hard work taking it round!

This is a friendly hotel at the furthest end of the main island from the Railway station; but the walk is well worthwhile and there are water busses for the faint-hearted. The rooms are fairly basic, but given the cost which was good for the city, not unacceptable. There was a comfortable sitting room where one could read or chat....

There are few things in life that satisfies more than a nice calm place where you can rest your legs after a days walk in a city like Venice. This hotel is such a place. Nice staff, nice rooms, okay breakfast and a nice yard to meditate in if you want to😉. - Okay, there could be softer beds (my...

I would avoid this place if you can help it. I am not sure how it was given such great reviews. The walls have quite a few holes and the bathrooms are in terrible shape. We rarely saw any guests, but it becomes quite obvious they are there when you walk into the bathroom. The shower curtain looks like it...

Dear Guest, thank you for your review. We would then like to explain also our point of view. We would like to start saying that we renewed a large amount of the rooms and common areas. This means, of course, also the shared bathroom. All of our rooms, and the common areas as well, are cleaned daily. We also added...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
