Can't beat the location. A little hidden, so look for a tiny alley off the main square. Close to many restaurants. Rooms are big, bathroom is big. Paid less than 100 euro per night in Nov. Staff is friendly and housekeeping was great. Only weird thing is their towels, which are similar to a tablecloth. Oh well, still got me...

We booked our stay at Albergo Tiepolo the night we got into Venice, so it was very quick. You can get to it easily by taking one of the water taxis to San Zaccaria. It faces a bustling square, with many shops, bars, and restaurants at your disposal. It's also a 5 minute walk from San Marco's, so very close...

The best thing about this hotel is its location! Less than a 5 minute walk from St Mark's Square so you couldn't get more central for the value. It's also a 2 minute walk from the nearest vaporetto stop which is very handy for arriving in the city and finding your way. Venice is very walkable and we were able...

Honestly, Venice is pretty expensive so for the location you're getting, it's well worth it! It's probably about half the price of everything in the area and it feels a bit on the lower end. But it's serviceable. Room safe. Washroom. No issues with the AC. Beds are a bit springy but we were tired enough to not care. In...

We got one of the rooms which was situated away from the hotel behind a bunch of restaurants where you also get 10% when you show your key . It was well situated & isolated and the bars around us were open until midnight. It is very close to Piazza San Marco. The AC was perfect on hot summer day.

We were very pleased with this hotel. Very nice silent modern room. It was clean and the stuff was friendly. We had breakfast but you should skip it, it was very poor but if you like bread with butter and jam or milk with cornflakes then go for it 😀

I booked this place, even after reading bad reviews because there was literally no other options when we were visiting Venice. They had no space left in the regular hotel so we were sent down the road to 'Piccolo Tiepolo'. We were escorted to another hotel down an alleyway with a dead rat (yes, I actually saw a dead rat)...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
