Well located hotel near the Ca D'oro vaporetto stop (two blocks) and about a 20 minute walk from St. Mark's square, depending on foot traffic. A couple of flights of stairs are required, as in most Venice hotels. The room was clean and everything worked well. Service was just OK: needed to ask for toilet paper and the woman serving...

We stayed here for three nights and were surprised by the friendly reception services. The lady showed us our room, which was spacious, clean and had beautiful Venice-style furniture. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The bed was good. Breakfast was partly serviced (coffee, juice, etc.) and in a very cozy room. The hotel itself is in a little side...

I was a bit apprehensive about this booking; fearing a dated, dark B&B in the middle of nowhere... well... I couldn't have been more wrong! Alloggi Santa Sofia was a real delight. With help from the tripadvisor Q&A, the B&B was easy to find and just moments from Ca'D'Oro Vaparetto stop, situated in what is easily one of our favourite...

This was a nice little hotel located on one of the main streets of Venice. It was easy to find, and within walking distance to everything. It was very clean, and had an awesome shower. There can be a bit of noise on the streets throughout the night. But overall it was a nice hotel to stay at.

For the price paid this hotel was very good quality. It was in a fairly central location and on the same street as some restaurants and shops. As with many traditional hotels in Venice there were many steep and tight stairs however in a city of this nature this is to be expected. Overall the hotel had everything we needed...

Spent 2 nights prior to cruise. Very nice, includes breakfast., hotel is walking distance to everything. Downside is getting there from airport. The water taxi isn't allowed to dock near there. Best advice take the crowded water bus. The rooms were clean, stairs to get up there very steep. Ask for help. No lifts

We found the hotel really easily travelling from the airport thanks to the brilliant directions on the Q and A section. The location was excellent - a stones throw from the Ca' d'Oro water bus stop and a short walk to the Rialto bridge (although we didn't even realise we were on the Rialto bridge as it was all covered...

I regret that I only had one night to spend in Venice. This charming little hotel looks exactly like the pictures, maybe better. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, about a 15 mintues walk from San Marco square, I found the location to be ideal, considering the fact that I'm on a student's budget. The manager, I guess Laura,...

Great location, friendly staff and allowed us to leave our bags here until we checked in. Room was decorated lovely and very spacious, bathroom was modern with powerful shower. There are flight of stairs up to the hotel, however the hotel is actually on Calle Priuli couple of streets along from McDonald's. On this road it is signposted from there,...

If you are lucky enough to check in and deal with Laura at the reception it is going to be a great stay! Great location! you dont go over any bridges from the water taxi to the hotel "for people with heavy luggage :D " Very clean with a passable breakfast! The bathroom occasionally made some weird noises but nothing...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
