Venice is sooo expensive peak season. Most budget hotels and hostels have shared bathrooms. I chose this hotel because I was able to get a triple bedded room with private bathroom, and air conditioning. Great location in a quiet, narrow side street right round the corner from the Railway Station and next to the Grand Canal and Ferrovia water taxi... More

For Venice the price was ok if you're not looking for a fancy place. They have free breakfast and the hotel is very close to the train station. The hotel is a little bit far from the main attractions of the city, but all Venice is very beautiful, so it is not a problem to go walking to "downtown".

We had four rooms over our stay, from quite old-fashioned ca 1950s to modern. The bathrooms had all been modernized. All the rooms were quiet -- we had views of beautiful gardens beyond -- and spotlessly clean. Well-run, with very pleasant and helpful staff. The breakfast is a simple continental one -- juice, croissant, rolls with honey and jam, coffee... More

For being on the island, this hotel is a well located and affordable. It provided us a good base to experience Venice for three days. It is very close to the train station and to the ferry system so getting around Venice from here is a breeze. The room was basic but it was a good size and comfortable. The... More

When we first arrived the man at the reception greeted us but was annoyed with customers who were calling in the evening to book a room!! (well you are a hotel). He then told us everything was paid and we just had to pay for the tax per night, so no problem with that. The next day when we wanted... More

Hotel Dolomiti is conveniently located next to the train station and only a few steps away from a vapareto that will take you anywhere in Venice. The rooms were impeccably clean, staff was extreme helpful, WiFi was fast and the coffee at breakfast really made my day. Will definitely recommend if you are a budget traveller!!! We will stay again... More

I like the location, really close to the train station, and in a quiet area. Price : assuming it's Venice, and on the island, the price is acceptable. Though it's the most expensive of my Italy trip. Breakfast : 1 croissant and tea/coffee and yoghurt is OK for me as i don't eat much in the morning. Wifi : we... More

This hotel was decent and extremely close to the train station. The positive was it was fairly cheap and gave us a decent size room and the biggest bathroom we had during our 14 days in Italy. A second positive trait was the breakfast. It was fairly small a croissant and yogurt with some other options but it was plenty... More

First the plus points: Very easy to get too, large clean family room with four beds, good info from reception, great bathroom and shower with bidet. The bad points: Please do not be fooled by the words "breakfast included" they should state clearly it's a snack that includes tea or coffee, one croissant, 1 packet of Melba toast, 1 hard... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
