Located just into Castello and behind San Marco, this hotel is a pleasant find in a quiet passageway - it is difficult to find and I realised it is easier to access from Rialto Vaporetto stop. The check in was welcoming and the room was...More
We arrived in the middle of the night due to our luggage being lost on the way with Lufthansa. The night guard was very friendly to show us to our room. As the other say - do not come here with a lot of luggage...More
Firstly, I would like to tell anyone that has a lot of luggage, to ensure there are some provisions in place to get to this hotel.
It is challenging to find, but the location, people working there and the cleanliness of it more than made...More
Tomorrow we leave Venice after a 7 day stay. This hotel was just perfect! I'm with my husband and two kids, 5 and 3. All of the staff were excellent. We checked in too early at 8am but Frederico welcomed us and let us leave...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

We were a party of 4 that arrived at the hotel about 0830. The hotel were advised at booking of our arrival time. Unfortunately we had to leave our luggage in the lobby unattended for 4 hours as we were told that we could not leave it in reception as this area doubles up as the breakfast area. We were unhappy and worried about this but had no other option so we took our valuables with us and returned a few hours later. Not ideal. You may have more luck if you are just a party of 2. No problem however with the afternoon departure leaving the luggage with reception.

"I've mentioned the stairs if you have lots of luggage, rooms on reception level would be better."
