My partner and I stayed here for one night and we definitely recommend staying here! It's a great location, the staff are lovely, welcoming and very helpful! We got to stay in the gold room which was beautiful it had a window in the ceiling and nice views of Venice. We got breakfast served in the room which was lovely.

Lovely and sincerely warm welcome from a senior member of the hotel. He spent time explaining us Venice, where to go, what to see, etc.... Lovely person. Very nice young lady as well taking care of the breakfast. Unfortunately very disappointed by the other staff in his late 40s. At first, very courteous...over courteous, sugary, but in reality showed an... More

Perfect location, short walk to St Marks Square yet is tucked away from foot traffic. Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars close by. We were located on the first floor, room has all you need and a quick call to reception should you require additional items. We were kindly offered an upgrade but chose to decline since the first floor was... More

After a trip around Italy our final destination was Venice. We had no problem at all to find the hotel due to his excellent location to the center, we were greeted by a gentlemen in the reception who explained us a few things about the city and after personally escorted us to our room, the room was nice, modern and... We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It is just a few minutes walk from St Marks but is a little haven of peace (we were on the third floor). The staff are extremely helpful - listen patiently to the guy who looks a bit like Groucho Marx (or Albert Einstein?). We followed his walking tour and restaurant tips and... More

We spent 4 nights in Relais Venezia and couldnt have been happier with our choice of hotel. The price was excellent and location was even better. You are approx 2 minutes from St Marks Square and about 5 minutes from Rialto Bridge. If it weren't for the small streets you'd make it to both locations in half the time, thats... More

We have just returned from a two night stay here with our two daughters, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff are fabulous! It's a small hotel only around 10 rooms, we were made so welcome from the moment we arrived to when we left. Being a small hotel there is little room for breakfast so it was served in... More

We booked a last minute trip to Venice during Carnival and were very lucky to find this little gem of a hotel. It is situated just a few minutes walking from St. Marc's square as well as from the Rialto Bridge in a very active and central Venice neighborhood. The hotel was constructed inside an old Venetian Palace so you... More

3 nights in January and it provided us with warmth, comfort (great beds) high standard of cleanliness and the staff were very helpful. Despite being in Santa Marco the noise levels were low but the location was very convenient for the days of sight-seeing

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
