We had a great time in Venice and loved staying at Albergo Guerrato. We were on the 3rd. floor of this authentic old building so that meant stairs, but the room was nice with private bath. A/C and free WiFi were appreciated. Breakfast was simple but just right for starting our day of "getting lost." Rick Steves had just been...

We enjoyed our stay at Pensione Guerrato. It is close to the Rialto -Mercato water-taxi stop, which was convenient for getting to and from the train station with luggage. It was nice to have the market close by. We got fresh fruit every day, and great photos of the fish market early one morning. The folks at the desk were...

We loved our stay at Pensione Guerrato! Our room was nicely decorated and modern, thank god for the air conditioning too. The shared bathroom down the hall was always very clean and it wasn't an issue. Breakfast was good! It was simple yet filling. The location is perfect, close to the Rialto bridge but far enough away so there are...

We stayed here for 1 night and it was a great location. Our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, stayed in a quad room which was huge and very clean! The windows/shutters did an excellent job of shutting out the noise and made for a quiet night. The breakfast is simple, but convenient to start the day. The owners were...

Our family stayed here for 3 nights in early June and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay in a true Venetian family-owned and operated hotel. I did all our research on Trip Advisor and this hotel seemed to have the right blend of location, price and good reviews. It was our first trip to Venice. LOCATION Less than...

At $120 american dollars a night, it wasn't the cheapest around, but the location was excellent. It was just a short walk to the water taxi. Interesting market stalls for produce was very close by. Vibrant bar scene surrounding picturesque square. Room included free wi-fi. Sink in room , but shared bath.Clean room but small and somewhat run down( character?)....

This place is terrific! Upon arrival, it was a little difficult to find but it's always expected that the first thing on anyone's agenda in Venice should be to get lost! After you get familiar with the area though, it's a breeze! As we entered Pensionne Guerrato, an older couple was about to check out and they had commented that...

We stayed there for 2 nights, we have a quad room on 3rd floor. The location is very good, it's not noisy at all. The room is huge with 2 queen size beds, and a good size bathroom. The room is very clean, so are the beds, the towels. The included breakfast is simple but sufficient, it would be better...

This place is terrific! Roberto and Piero were very attentive both before and during my stay. The hotel is located right next to the Rialto Bridge in a great neighborhood. The vaporetto is right there as well as the food market. It is close to many great shops and restaurants. We had a quad room and it was small, but...

My husband and I stayed one night before our honeymoon cruise. There is no elevator (lift) so be prepared to carry your luggage up stairs! Our room was right next to the front desk but it didn't bother us. The room is very simple and has a tiny shower. Our room overlooked the Rialto Market. When the windows were closed...

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
