We stayed in Venice for two nights at the B&B and had a wonderful time. Claudete, the owner, was very helpful and gracious as a host. Our room was large, well furnished and had the private bathroom. We arrived without issue following her directions. She pointed out sights and how to get there from the hotel as well as offered... More

This place is wonderful, located just a couple of blocks from the Grand Canal and a short walk from San Marco. Claudete is an attentive and gracious hostess. Everything we needed was provided, and the breakfasts were more than adequate. The room was clean and elegant. If we travel to Venice again, we hope to stay in this completely charming... More

This was an excellent location, easy to find and a three minute walk from the Rialto bridge vaporetto stop. Claudette was a lovely host, giving great directions and advice. The nearby vaporetto stop makes all the main sites in Venice readily accessible and we enjoyed being able to hop on a vaporetto whenever we wanted with a 48 hour ticket,... More

Great location in the center of Venice, within a couple of blocks of the vaporetto (water bus) stop near the Rialto Bridge. Claudete was very friendly, served amazing breakfasts in our room, and was very helpful in providing a map of Venice and showing us where on the map all the places we were interested in seeing, along with others... We were on our honeymoon, coming from Croatia in July and this was in the middle of Venice and exactly what we needed. The host was very helpful, the rooms and the overall house was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Right away she gave us the best advice to "see" Venice, "Just get lost!". We did and it was absolutely... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
