We stayed here in May 2014 as a couple and found the accomodation acceptable but not particularly great. The location is a bit remote compared to other hotels I have used in Venice. It is always, in my opinion, nice to be close to San Mark's Square or the main station area. I did really enjoy the breakfast buffet!

The Ca' Priuli is separate to, but essentially part of, the 4* Palazzo Priuli. You check in at the same main Reception and are then escorted 30m round the corner to what is essentially an annex in an old house. It's perfectly acceptable and the rooms are clean and reasonably well equipped with good bathrooms and comfortable beds. Don't expect...

We stayed at the Ca'priuli for 3 nights in December, it was lovely. The room was old fashioned in a nice way with velvet curtains and carved wooden furniture, it was really clean and had a great range of cakes for breakfast, I'd definitely recommend this hotel for the price we paid.It really is 7 minutes from st Marks square...

Rooms were nice and clean and smoke free..the breakfast was probably the best we had at several different hotels in Italy. The staff was very helpful. An easy walk to the Realto Bridge and San Marcos.

Short walk from vaporetto to hotel though needed help with directions. On smaller canal but not accessible by canal boats. Easy walking distance to many of the major sights and restaurants. Room at rear of hotel was reasonable size and quiet. Bathroom a little small but adequate. Staff helpful and assisted with carrying luggage up stairs and over bridge. Breakfast...

We were looking for a place to stay directly in Venice that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, rather than having to staying outside of Venice and traveling in every morning. This fit the bill for location--just around the corner from St. Mark's! They accommodated a family of 4 with 2 rollaways in our room. It was a bit...

We actually reserved this hotel based on a friends recommendation and it turned out to be a winner. Our main trip was Rome, but we decided to take the fast train for a day trip to Venice while we were there. They have a main hotel and some rooms a few doors down. We only saw the lobby of the...

Booked this hotel with flights at a very good price for three nights, was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews but when anyway, when we arrived we got shown to our room which was lovely! And then discovered our own personal private terrace which was beautiful with a view over the canal! My partner has a nut...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
