Stayed at the Residence Corte Grimani in June, 2017 and found it to be perfect for our family. The hotel was more of an apartment that we stayed in with 2 kids who slept on a pullout couch in a separate room. While not luxurious,...More
An excellent spot, convenient for all the things you will want to see in Venice, a stones through from Piazza San Marco meaning you can wander there early morning and late evening when most of the tour groups have left.

Stayed as a family of five in September 2016 in a Superior Apartment. Accomodation was very clean and the apartment was spacious with two bathrooms, kitchen and laundry (note extra cost to access). We enjoyed beautiful canal views from our windows. The hotel location supurb,...More
RCG I would call a boutique hotel. We were very happy with our 2 night stay here. Donatella was an excellent host and we were saddened we couldn't say good bye to her as she has Sunday's off but did leave her a note on...More
We loved our apartment. We were travellimg with our teenage son so we had the bedroom and he was on the pull out couch. Plenty of room for all of us. Very close to St Marks square but tucked away enough to be away from...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The Vaporetto (water bus) run from just outside the train station to both the Railto and San Marco, costs €7.50/person each way and runs every 15 minutes or so. From the station, you can catch either the white (No.1) or Red (No.2) lines. There is a ticket booth near the pier and the vendors all speak perfect English.
The Rialto stop is slightly closer, and less busy - it's an easy, mostly flat 100-150 yard walk from there to the hotel following the directions from the hotel website.
The Vaporetto is easy and a great Venician experience!
