Would not hesitate to come back and stay at this hotel. Although basic the rooms are huge, wifi is good, breakfast is good and shower is good. The staff are amazing and super helpful. The location is right near Accademia and an easy walk to San Marco and Rialto. From the airport can book tickets for €14 where you catch... More

The hotel is situated in a good location. This doesn't justify the overpriced old rooms. All the staff apart from the waitress were very nice & polite. Even though the breakfast finishes at 10am, when we went downstairs at 9:40am there was nothing left & no refill!!! So if you plan to visit the hotel don't count that you will... More

We stayed at this hotel in June 2016 and found it to be good value for money compared with other Venice hotels. When we eventually found the hotel (take a map!) it was located conveniently for accessing the Grand Canal via Academia and a relatively short walk to Piazza San Marco. The rooms were basic, but clean and adequate for... More

This place is a joke! The room had no working air conditioning even though it states online that it has it. The front desk said it has been out for 2 weeks and have no idea when it will get fixed. She even suggested i sleep with the windows open, there are tons of mosquitoes out there! Are you crazy??... More

Great location and good value for Venice. Rooms were adequate and breakfast provided a satisfying start to the day. Vending machines provided a welcome drink before or after sightseeing. Friendly staff & manned reception 24/7.

We stayed here one night waiting for a train to Rome. Given that most hotels in Venice are mega bucks this represented reasonable value for money. The location is quiet and restaurants and shops are close by. We also found the water station only a few minutes away which helps a great deal. We could not get in until 2pm... More

This hotel is comfortable and convenient for reaching the Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco. Room was clean and comfortable. A little on the warm side and hard to control the temperature. If you are looking for canal views don't choose this hotel. If like us you want to enjoy Venice on a reasonable budget then the Domus Ciliota is... More

The location was excellent with a large, not too crowded, square nearby and plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants within easy reach. Access to popular areas such as San Marco, Rialto Bridge, and the Accademia were ten minutes or so walking distance away. Vaporetto stops were also accessible within the same timeframe. The hotel itself was good value for money,... More

if you are looking for a budget hotel to sleep for the night and explore Venice all day, then this is a good choice. If you don't want to be facing the canals, the the location is good. Very basic hotel with no tea or coffee making facilities. Room was similar to that of a premier inn that needed vast updating. The mirror was located behind a pillar in the room! Bed was comfortable and the shower had a lot of power, but the cubicle was so small you struggled to wash your hair properly. The walls were... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
