My husband and I decided to book this hotel due to its location, it's next to the Bus station where your bus from the airport takes 30 mins and stops right outside the hotel and for the People Mover which is right across the road. For it's convenience it was perfect for us. The hotel is very clean, however, it... More

Ca'Doge is the only hotel in Venice with its own car park and for people like us who find it impossible to travel light it was great to have access to the car just downstairs. However...... One condition is that you must leave the car open and with the keys in. We didn't have a problem but we were a... More

Great little boutique hotel 50 yards from the People Mover transport train which takes you to the cruise ships' port. It is also reachable by motor taxi to and from the port if you prefer, but the People Mover only costs Eu1.10 from a ticket machine. A great breakfast included, which is a 'help yourself' to a wide variety of... More

Stayed night before our cruise as the bus from airport stops right across the road (8 euros ) the hotel was lovely nice room nice staff and great breakfast. Is is also opposite the people mover to the cruise terminal ( 1.50 each ) however beware it is very crowded and pickpockets are everywhere, next time I would take a... More

Arrived at this hotel out of hours, you then collect your keys from a man in the car park. We were going on a cruise the following day and the location was ideal and across the road from the people mover, we have a room on the top floor so carrying the suitcases up the small staircase was hard work... Parking sucks in Italy like everywhere so this place is an awesome hotel kinda close for walking and just a great place for breakfast and sleep. Real deal: 10-15 min walk to Venice centro-on the bus route, but quieter than you think, awesome breakfast to do what you want- actually if you have a room looking over the bus stop... More

We took a cab to the front door which is at the main bus stop in Venice. The Hotel is right in the same circle and was very convenient to not only walk about Venice, but to walk or to get on the people mover to the Cruise Terminal. The room was large enough for our two kids and us... More

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the people mover. But I didnt realize it was just a 10 second walk across the street.. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. The room was very spacious but the bed wasnt the most comfortable bed I have slept on.. That may be the only negative point that we have... More

Most people stay a day or three in Venice before a cruise - this wasn't possible for us, but we were able to tack on one extra day after disembarkation. Was glad to find a hotel that required we lug our bags over exactly zero bridges! Our arrival at the hotel was at around 9am - much too early to... More

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the people mover, but didn't expect it to be as wonderful as it was. The room was very clean and spacious. Although it was on the 3rd floor and a walk-up, our bags were carried up and down again by their amazing staff. There is also another building with an elevator, if... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
