We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in May. We got a spacious and beautiful room, facing the garden so it was very quiet. The location itself was very good for us as it was just off the city center which can be noisy at times, but still within walking distance to everything. The hotel is very clean and...

Sometimes the experience of the hotel stay can be the difference between a triumph or disaster when a holiday overall is remembered. This was certainly the case in respect of our stay at Ca Vendramin which I’m pleased to say was a triumph, without doubt one of my better holiday experiences. For this thanks are due to Tilli and Jessica,...

We stayed for New Years Eve. The cold was relentless. The lobby/public areas were not heated and our room (huge with high ceilings) would not warm up even on the highest heating setting. We would actually sit under the covers when in the room because it was so cold. Breakfast was included but it was simply too cold to eat...

We got a water taxi from the airport. Arriving at night, it was an interesting walk from the taxi stop but it only takes about 5 minutes. The totally wonderful receptionist ( from Sri Lanka , I think his name is Tuli) met us across the bridge and carried out bags over. The hotel is gobsmacking . Truly Venetian and...

This is a gorgeous property; stunningly beautiful , friendly staff (especially the older gentleman on reception-a great character who clearly loves his job, meeting and greeting people) beautifully clean with a lovely breakfast too. This was a very reasonably priced hotel, especially for Venice. It was situated in a quiet side street but only minutes walk into the hustle and...

Stayed here for a long weekend in March. The location is fantastic- only a 5 min walk to the Vaparetto stop and not difficult to manage with cases (2 bridges and about 500m). The hotel is lovely, well maintained and beautifully decorated. We had booked an economy room with what we thought was a double bed, however it was a...

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of February. Hotel very well placed just off Strada Nova. Suite was very comfortable although the bathroom was small. Breakfast was good but limited choice. All staff were very friendly and helpful.Good local restaurants in the area, not over-priced like some in Venice. Over all I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 3 days on the last weekend of the Venice Carnival in a junior suite, which was lovely. The hotel is in a good location with plenty of bars and restaurants and not far from the Ca D'Oro or San Marcuola water bus stops. All the staff were lovely. Mr Tilly is a lovely man and couldn't do...

The hotel is good for everything. Venice isn't a big place so everything is walking distance. And Ca'vendramin is in a nice quiet spot. Breakfast isn't too bad. The staff are very attentive and try to help you out as best they can! I'd definitely recommend this place for couples.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights last week.It was our first time in Venice and we were lucky enough to choose this hotel! We were greeted at reception by friendly and professional Tilly who showed us to our amazing Junior suite with canal view which was well worth the extra spend. The room was enormous, spotlessly clean and...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
