Just spent five nights in this hotel, quiet en-suite double room (no. 111), exceptionally pleasant staff and lovely garden (with cat!). It's about 300 yards from the 'waterbus' stop and there are some lovely restaurants nearby. Will certainly stay here again if visiting Venice.

The hotel is in an excellent location, very close to water bus stops and down a secluded path off a main thoroughfare. There is a pretty good restaurant a block or so away, a large pastry shop and coffee shops very nearby if you want more than the very basic breakfast provided (not great coffee we thought). The rooms are...

Just come back from 4 night stay here with a friend. We had room 112 twin with ensuite it was everything we needed. Hotel garden is lovely peaceful and secure. Continental breakfast is well priced at 5 euros with no rush as is from 8-9.30. Great location, quiet area yet walking distance to Rialto bridge and st marks square, water...

I stayed here for 3 days on July. The rooms were basic but clean. You get given keys so that you can let yourself in and out of the main entrance any time. The cleaner knocked or visited every day and the place was kept tidy. The room consisted of two single beds pushed together to make a double, but...

My husband and I stayed here because it was a very good price for Venice. The room was comfortable and we got extra pillows on request. Missed having tea making facilities but otherwise room was perfect for our needs. Room was very clean and housekeeping came in daily. We had a shared bathroom which was kept very clean. Only had...

No luxury except for the quiet and beautiful small garden where we enjoyed our take away salads, but everything we needed. Brought own hairdryer (thx to Tripadvisor). Clean. Friendly staff. I recommend that you take the boat to Fondamente Nove, from there you'll have less than 5 mins walk (dragging your suitcase across Venice over bridges is tough, and will...

My wife and I have spent our three day vacation in Venice in this hotel. We've booked it for the price and location - roughly 400 euro for a three night stay. And if we're ever back in Venice we will definitely book here. - The location is a five minute walk from the Fondamenta Nova waterbus station (the one...

When I first booked this, I must admit I was a little apprehensive as it is only classed as a 1* property. However on arrival I was pleasantly surprised. The hotels location is fantastic, 300m to the blue line water taxi stop and literally after wondering for 10 minutes down the streets, we found ourselves in San Marco (no need...

For a budget hotel I was quite impressed with Casa Boccassini. It was a nice room with a comfy bed and a decent bathroom. We couldn't have asked for much more. It was very close to the canal. The area is great and less touristy than San Marco. You could also probably walk to San Marco in under a half...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

“Our room was directly above reception and because of that we seemed to get wifi sometimes, although patchy. They do tell you in order to get wifi you will have to be in reception or in the courtyard, but I think because of proximity, we sometimes could connect for a few minutes in our room.”
